Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Site is in a fantastic location up very high in the mountains. Great roads up with tremendous views. Excellent showers and wc facilities which were spotless. Good coffee shop and cafe. Site was full so our pitch was little more than a car park, but the views made it all worthwhile.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: El entorno de Jaun es expectacular. Muy limpio.

Disliked: El camping es muy pequeño y los espacios de duchas bastante antiguos y estrechos. Me habría gustado que también hubiese cartelería en inglés.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Great location, staff friendly, great facilities. Kids loved park, get basics from shop, fantastic walks, views surrounding.

Disliked: Not as looked on pictures. Pitch on car park essentially. Trees bigger now from when photos taken so no view from pitch. If in tent are on grass.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Facilities were clean and space to wash up and dry clothes. Little shop and restaurant on site. Communication and check in easy. Location lovely!

Disliked: From the pictures we were led to believe we would have a marked area/bay and some grass. We were put on what effectively was a carpark with cars and camper vans. Tents were fine on the grass but for a vehicle such as us with a roof tent it left much to be desired. Was okay for a 1 night stop over.

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful views and lovely hikes nearby. Toilets and showers were clean.

Disliked: We were put on what looked like a car park with lots of other vans so didn’t have any grass to sit out on, couldn’t put our awning up etc. it felt like they were very stuck for space and were just shoving people in anywhere. If you’re in a tent you’ll get grass so not a problem. Just felt like we were paying a fair amount to stay in a car park.

Electric optional grass tent pitch

Electric optional grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Whilst limited in number the toilets were clean and in working order. The pitch was good quality grass and of a good size. The site is in a perfect location for walks. Great views. Friendly staff and the site is Dog friendly. Only 35-40 mins into Thune which is

Disliked: Only friction we had initially was access to electric due to number of pitches. Soon resolved and the staff provided an adapter.

Local attractions

Active types will no doubt be itching to discover the Bernese Alps on foot or by bike; expert hikers can yomp up the Bäderhorn (20 minutes’ drive) for stunning views to Mont Blanc from the summit. There’s a popular and way-marked loop through the Gastlosen massif from Musersbergli car park (15 minutes) that’s good for competent teenage walkers, and if you’re with younger kids, a gentle hike through alpine meadows around the campsite may suffice. Cyclists can take the switchback road through a steep mountain pass up to Jaun (around two hours by bike), a gorgeous village of traditional chalets with steep pitched roofs tucked into the mountain foothills. If you need a picnic spot, plonk yourselves down on the banks of the dramatic waterfall just outside the village. When you’re staying at Camping Jaunpass in late November, there may already be a scattering of snow. While the ski resorts don’t officially open until the end of December, you can get out on the slopes with the kids to have rollicking snowball fights or try out snowshoeing.
