  • Next to the Ojos Negros Greenway and between two natural parks
  • A 40-minute drive from Valencia; half an hour from the coast
  • Playground, restaurant and barbecue areas
Over 160 kilometres of trail to tramp or pedal are accessible from the Valencian Community's Camping Altomira, as it's slap bang next to the Ojos Negros Greenway, the longest green route in Spain. Prefer a beach or a city? The Spanish sea is half an hour's drive away and the city of Valencia is within 40 minutes' drive. No to any of these but sí to wildlife watching and scenic landscapes? Camping Altomira is also between the Sierra Espadán and Sierra Calderona natural parks. After spending the day exploring, you may want to make a beeline for the site's gorgeous outdoor swimming pool, which is open during high season only (subject to weather conditions). Otherwise, let the kids loose at the playground, or pick up some produce at the shop to have at the barbecue areas. Meals are served at the on-site Altomira restaurant if you'd rather let someone else handle food preparation duties for you. All is comfy and convenient across the site's facilities, with toilet and shower blocks with disabled facilities. On laundry days, head to the launderette with your dirty socks and towels.

What customers say

This terraced, rural campsite boasts beautiful mountain views and a peaceful atmosphere. Guests praise the excellent facilities, clean washrooms, and helpful staff. The on-site restaurant receives positive mentions for its food quality and value. While the location near a village and waterfall is a highlight, some visitors found pitches steep and pitches were described as having loose gravel, requiring groundsheets. Some reviews mention issues with hot water in showers. Building work caused disruption for some guests.

Liked Fantastic location. Massive flat pitches

Disliked Building work going on on my pitch and adjacent pitches. I know it has to be done but there were no warnings … I left early to get some peace. Very few lights in the toilet block worked so if you shower at night you’ll be doing it in the dark.

Liked Location is ok. Waterfall nearby walking distance. Decent shop

Disliked They had building work on our pitch and adjoining pitches every day. Cement mixer and jackhammer and angle grinder. I appreciate they need to do work at times but they could’ve warned us and situated us somewhere else.

Local attractions

Hire a bike from the Camping Altomira team to see how much of the 160-kilometre stretch of the Ojos Negros Greenway you can manage; it goes through 20 tunnels, over 21 bridges, along reservoirs and through many a varied landscape including foothills, rivers and the Mediterranean forest of Javalambre. If all this is a bit too much of a stretch, pedal or stroll to the lake a couple of kilometres from the site. Also have a wander to El Salto de la Novia (10 minutes' drive), the 60-metre waterfall known as the Bride's Jump, and around its neighbouring village of Navajas (10 minutes), with many mineral water fountains and an 11th-century Moorish tower. The cathedral and Valencian Gothic art of the Diocesan Museum of Segorbe are 10 minutes' drive away too. Other options around the area are the nature parks of the Sierra Espadán and Sierra Calderona; many old villages with Moorish architecture; and the beaches of Chilches and the Columbretes Islands.
