Retreat to this rural ranch in a national park 20 minutes’ drive from buzzy Benidorm. At Pondarosa Ranch, you’ll be in for a rosy time, thanks to the gorgeous mountain views, rural setup and excellent walking, hiking, cycling, climbing, angling and four-wheel driving on its doorstep…
Yes, outdoorsy types will find much to do around Pondarosa Ranch, with plenty of chances to refuel at the bar or a rest stop in one of the local villages. There are bars and restaurants in the villages on either side of the ranch including Finestrat and Orxeta (neither more than four kilometres’ drive away).
Horse-riding routes, mountain biking trails and roads or trails for motorbikes or four-wheel drives are some of the other main attractions here. There’s a Nordic walking trail immediately accessible from the site – and for keen anglers, it’s just 10 minutes’ drive from the site to a carp-fishing freshwater reservoir where one-day fishing permits are available.
If you fancy a dip in the Med instead, take the 20 minutes’ drive to Benidorm or the 15 minutes’ drive to La Cala, another beach resort with plenty of life.
Back at base, this working country ranch just off the CV758 has its own weekend bar with an outdoor terrace (open from March to the end of summer, but with facilities inside available year-round) and a picnic area, burger bar and live music between January and November.
Other facilities include a large car park, on-site toilets and a courtesy minibus available for airport transfers or ranch excursions.

If it’s the blue Mediterranean or skyscrapers, tapas bars, wineries, promenade strolls and bike tours that take your fancy, head into Benidorm – take your pick from Ponent Beach (20 minutes’ drive), Platja de Llevant (25 minutes) and the lively nightlife. Quiet golden-sand beaches are no rare sight around here either, with options including the small cove of Platja de La Cala de Finestrat (15 minutes) and the quieter Playa del Bol Nou (20 minutes).
Get into hiking mode instead… with mountain and forest landscapes around Font del Molí (15 minutes) or the gorgeous hills of the Vía Ferrata Peña del Figueret (20 minutes) and its daring rock-climbing routes, there are plenty of spectacular vistas to be tracked down. Or head to the observation deck at Mirador del Río Amadorio (10 minutes) to see the gorgeous blue lake laid out below.
If you want a different sort of day out, take yourself off to Valor Chocolate Museum (15 minutes) for a free tour and tastings of the sweet final product.
