Ever dreamed of seeing Algarve coast beaches with limestone cliffs and golden sand? What about the city of Lagos, long known for its delicious seafood, cobbled old town and nearby sea stacks? Both are a short drive away from Solar do Rei-Bodhichitta, which not only has access to the coast by car in 10 minutes and Lagos in 20, but also has views over the sloping Faro countryside. This is a quiet site that’s both scenic and easy to get to, with access just off the M535. Unwinding should come easily here, whether it's walking, meditating or meeting the other guests at the community kitchen building on site. The site feels lovely and private, surrounded by greenery and with just a small scattering of amenities including showers, composting loos and wifi. Dogs are welcome on site, so you don’t need to leave your furry companions at home. When you're ready to don your sandals for some beach time, Solar do Rei-Bodhichitta is a 10-minute drive from the fishing town of Burgau and more Algarve beaches are scattered along the surrounding coast within a 10- to 20-minute drive of the site. That makes activities like swimming, surfing, canoeing and diving all easy to arrange. Plus, for those of you who'd rather go hiking, biking or golfing, there are plenty of trails within a short drive of the site, and the nearest golf course is in Espiche, less than 10 minutes' drive away. Exploring beaches or the city of Lagos (20 minutes’ drive) could be hungry work. That's where the local village, Barão de São João, should come in handy. It has several bars and restaurants, all within a five-minute drive of the site.

Un accueil chaleureux, souriant et bienveillant, dans un cadre naturel et particulièrement tranquille, au cœur de la nature.

Les chiens sont acceptés, ce qui est un vrai plus pour voyager en famille avec eux. 🐾

Un endroit idéal pour se poser, ralentir, respirer et se ressourcer… exactement ce dont nous avions besoin pendant notre voyage.

Disliked Il nostro van è stato posizionato in cima alla montagna, alquanto scomodo per muoversi a qualsiasi ora, soprattutto di notte.
Il bagno quasi inesistente molto sporco e la porta si bloccava in continuazione ci siamo arrese a fare pipì nella radura, meno maleodorante, aria fresca e la vista sicuramente più piacevole.
DalLa doccia usciva a stento l’acqua.
Per comodità e rapporto qualità-prezzo meglio campeggiare in strada.

Our showers and WC are cleaned and checked every day. They are clean and of a good standard. One door is a bit twisted due to wäre and tare, harsh weather conditions. But absolutely functional. We have many guests who appreciate our clean, calm, spacious rustic country side installations.

Liked Het verblijf bij Solar do Rei-Bodhicitta is een prachtige plek voor natuurliefhebbers. Voor wie comfort minder belangrijk vindt en juist geniet van het buitenleven, is dit een heerlijke omgeving om te verblijven. De natuur is er mooi en rustgevend. De eigenaar is vriendelijk en behulpzaam en geeft je alle ruimte om je eigen gang te gaan, wat het verblijf extra prettig maakt.

Disliked We paid deposit to pitch up, arrived in the afternoon, place was chained shut, waited half an hour, gave up and found a motorhome site in carvoeira

From the manager: We had to declare "force majeur" due to bush fire we suffered. We informed our customers ASAP, however since the booking was done shortly before arrival of the guests, they didn't receive our immediate response in time.
This was unfortunate, but given the extreme circumstances, the short term booking didn't allow to avoid the situation, what we regret.
Hopefully next time.

Your first sea dip might as well be in Burgau (10 minutes' drive), where the small beach is mightily scenic with golden sand backed by green hills. Head to a snack bar for a pastel de nata to fuel yourself for a good stroll along the volcanic coastal path at nearby Rocha Negra (20 minutes). The sunrises and sunsets at this place come highly recommended. Of course, there are plenty more top-notch beaches to take your pick from… perhaps Praia do Camilo (20 minutes), where there are spectacular views of sea stacks and rock arches. Meia Praia (20 minutes), Lagos' main sandy beach, is popular for watersports like kitesurfing when the breeze picks up. Surfers can flock to the large sandy Porto Mós beach (20 minutes) for consistent swells, too. Travelling with the kids? They're likely to appreciate a quick trip to Zoo de Lagos (five minutes) to see the waddling penguins and reptiles – that's if you have any time left over.
