Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Small family site, Location suited us as was in the middle of our previous site and Dunkirk. Staff friendly & helpful. Showers (€1) worked well & clean. WiFi didn’t work for us due to apple security.

Disliked: Absolutely not their fault but there was a huge amount of midges & mosquitos spawning presumably due to the farm location with lots of standing water around. This sort of spoilt the stay for us as a couple got in our van even through the fly nets.

Liked: Review for Camping De Grienduil

We had a lovely stay at Camping De Grienduil, a small and tranquil campsite with a peaceful rural setting. The view across the local fields was stunning, making it a great spot to unwind.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to assist when needed. We had a minor issue with the electric, but it was quickly resolved without any hassle.

One thing to note is that you can’t park right next to your caravan, but there is ample parking just outside, so it wasn’t a problem.

The location is fantastic—only 25 minutes from Efteling, making it a great base for visiting the theme park. It’s also close to Leerdam, where you can explore the glass museum and watch live glass-blowing demonstrations.

Overall, a great little campsite, and we’d definitely stay again!

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Made very welcome and a nice gift for my pooch.

Disliked: The pitch was very muddy. The hard standing was alongside but not allowed park on that.

From the manager: Thank you for the review. The pitch you were standing on is a very much used pitch by campers. But your still standing on a hard surface. Under the place you are standing on is a special construction so you cannot get stucked or slip away. The hard standing tiles is to get out of your camper/caravan without getting wet feet. We had a lot of rain the daus before.

Camping pod

Liked: Friendly greeting and helpful with local information.

Disliked: Very dated shower/toilet block and run-down appearance of facilities. Damp/fusty smell in accommodation and bedding needed updating. Large additional charge made for cleaning.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: Posto molto accogliente e bello in tutti i sensi. Panorama stupendo, e location molto pulita.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked: dedicated pitches;
despite no cars at pitches, you can still drop off your stuff by car at your pitch;
beautiful scenery - ducks, rabbits, views, chickens, dykes;
endless walks and bike rides - I recommend using Komoot app for planning;
each pitch has a hardstanding/paved section - perfect for table/cooking/gazebo;
clean facilities - spotless toilets and showers;
tidy and well looked after;
laundry facilities - perfect for touring holidays;
on-site cafe - great comfort food when you are too tired to cook after a busy day of adventures;
friendly and attentive staff;
great communications - I had a few questions before travelling - they responded quickly and comprehensively;
quiet campsite - we loved it...;
flat and perfectly level pitches (as expected from the Netherlands, but worth still worth mentioning!);
free and good quality wi-fi across the site (if it's important to you);
each pitch has its own water tap next to it so no need to take your water butt;
natural privacy screens between pitches (bushes etc).

Disliked: cannot think of any!

Local attractions

Whether you make the trip on two wheels or four, nearby Leerdam is worth a visit for its museums of crystal and glassmaking, and well-stocked AquaZoo aquarium. Gorinchem (15 minutes’ drive) has a a well-designed local museum and a pretty harbour for half-day wanders and alfresco coffee stops. There’s more history on offer at the moated 14th-century Loevestein Castle (half an hour) while Kinderdijk (40 minutes) has UNESCO heritage status for its spread of old windmills, with museums attached. A major container port, Rotterdam, an hour away, tends to get overlooked: away from the ships there are museums, art galleries, a zoo and covered market, as well as playgrounds, boat and train rides, a petting zoo and various splashing, pool-based antics at Plaswijck Adventure Park. Then there’s Amsterdam, about an hour and 15 minutes away but still doable for day trips: take a boat ride down the canals, explore the myriad of waterway-crossed streets and bridges, hit the Van Gogh Museum and don’t forget you can bike your way round the whole lot. If it’s countryside you’re after, you've picked well: it’s half an hour from the site to the river delta of De Biesbosch National Park, where you can walk, bike or even boat around spotting wading birds and beavers at work. Further off are the wildlife-filled heaths, woods and dunes of the Hoge Veluwe National Park (an hour's drive), home to red deer, mouflons and the Kröller-Müller Museum, containing so many works by a certain artist that it’s dubbed Van Gogh’s second home..
