Liked Quiet site surrounded by beautiful countryside and a very pleasant cycle into Leerdam. We had a very nice pitch with a paved ‘patio’ and a view of the pond and field beyond. Friendly and helpful owners and being able to order fresh bread to collect in the morning was good.

Disliked The facilities are unisex and I do prefer segregated facilities.

Liked L'accueil, propreté, cadre jolie

Disliked Il y avait le bruit de la route juste à côté et le bruit du moteur de la fontaine qui est au milieu du camping. On n'a été réveillé par l'arrosage automatique. Nous étions en tente et nous pensions être plus au calme dans un camping aussi reculé.

Local attractions

When it comes to history, this area doesn’t disappoint. Its museums certainly have a diverse selection of things for you to nosy about, from the crystal and glassmaking museums at Leerdam (five minutes’ drive and home to an aquarium too) to the second-largest Van Gogh collection in the world at the Kröller-Müller Museum (an hour and five minutes). You may already know Utrecht for its canals and cycling paths, but it also has a medieval centre (35 minutes), fierce competition for the medieval Loevestein Castle (40 minutes). Meanwhile, Kinderdijk’s (35 minutes) old windmills and museums have earned the UNESCO World Heritage Site stamp, while Gorinchem (15 minutes) has a better look at local history inside its museum (with pleasant harbourside walks and alfresco cafés for dessert if you wish). Boat trips take your fancy? There are beaver and birdwatching boat tours in Nationaal Park De Biesbosch (45 minutes) or the canals in Amsterdam (50 minutes), which is also known for its bridges, cycling and Van Gogh Museum. Now, for two more types of parks, both with their own spark… perhaps you’ll want to visit the theme park at Efteling (35 minutes) or delve into Hoge Veluwe National Park (55 minutes) to see red deer and mouflons.
