On the hunt for busy holidays with plenty of time outdoors? Settle in for active stays at Minicamping ‘t Bosch, a small family-friendly site on a working farm five minutes’ drive from the Gelderland town of Zelhem. The site is in a very quiet rural area, with walks and bike rides easily available in the surrounding countryside, and is an excellent option for groups looking for a place to pitch up together. There's plenty to do for all ages and tastes: kids may be keen to meet the pig, goats, sheep and one donkey living on site (ask the owners for a farm tour to do this), and grownups (for an additional fee) can sign up for tours in the kitchen where goat milk cheese and ice cream are sold. A recreation room has table tennis, table football, billiards, shuffleboard, a TV and a selection of books for time indoors. The scenic Achterhoek has plenty of cycle routes to choose from, and the long-distance Pieterpad can be joined less than half an hour’s saunter away. For light walks and wildlife-spotting, the Landgoed 't Zand nature area is also within five minutes' drive. Night lighting is available on site and all pitches have hook-up (Euro plug). The spacious and well-maintained amenities include toilets, showers and sinks, plus an accessible toilet and washing-up sinks with plenty of hot water. A washing machine and a dryer are available for an extra charge.

Liked * De sfeer op de camping. Tenten, caravans (nieuw en vintage), campers, vouwwagen, maar ook huurders van de hippe pod, pipowagen en trekkershut, alles staat door elkaar wat ontzettend leuk is voor de sfeer.

* hele vriendelijke eigenaren
* perfecte uitvalsbasis voor fiets- en wandeltochten

Disliked Muntjes om te douchen maar ook dit went snel.

Liked Wunderschöner Platz , nicht sehr groß aber sehr ruhig, freundliche Begrüßung, alles vorhanden was man braucht für einen Kurzurlaub, empfehlenswert, Strom, Wasser, WLAN alles am Platz vorhanden, Preis super, vielen Dank, Bezahlung ohne Probleme vorab!!

Liked This was my perfect campsite. A hidden gem. Quiet, adult friendly, with clean and well functioning facilities. A working farm, so animals around and activities going on. Nice welcome on arrival and friendly other guests. Some people staying long term enjoying their summer vacation, says a lot for a good holiday destination.

Disliked Recycling bins needed emptying. We probably stayed here just before collection day.

Local attractions

If holidays spent exploring local towns appeal, then this is absolutely the right spot. The site is well placed for wandering around the shops, museums and markets of Zelhem, and for experiencing the festivals, horse fair and carriage rides of Hengelo, both within five minutes’ drive. Turn next to Ruurlo, 15 minutes' drive away, to clamber around the castle and museum and to take a dip in the outdoor pool (with 65-metre slide), making sure to stop along the way at one of the largest mazes in the Netherlands, 10 minutes from the site. Explores on two wheels are of course a must in the Netherlands, and a visit to Vorden (15 minutes from base) should satisfy. As well as the Wiersse Castle gardens, there’s an eight-castle cycle route there for a solid mix of history and biking. History is easy to stumble across hereabouts: the site’s 30 minutes from Bergh and Middachten castles, and 25 minutes from the 800-year-old city of Zutphen. The latter’s in good company too – it’s 20 minutes from base to Bronkhorst, a village that’s technically the smallest city in the Netherlands, and the museums, shops, restaurants and zoo of Arnhem are within 45 minutes.
