Opening its doors in 2016, Buitenplaats Beekhuizen is cleverly landscaped to help guests comfortably navigate its natural woodland setting, and the owners collaborate conscientiously with local nature conservationists to ensure it’s all as eco-friendly as poss.
As one might expect, the accommodation at this luxury glamping site is in fine order: modern, heated and fully furnished with a kitchen area and private bathrooms, it’s also served by free wifi so guests can post ever so slightly smug pics of their fab forest resort.
And as befits an au naturel woodland site such as this, the team has kept leisure facilities and entertainment to a minimum to ensure guests have a serene woodland stay; instead, heaps of hiking, cycling and mountain bike trails around the woods can be joined right on site to maintain high levels of wholesome family amusement, and nature trails are organised for guests by the enthused on-site team.
Elsewhere to keep kids entertained (outside of all the woodland wandering they’ll inevitably get stuck into) there’s a playground with a slide, a mini cable car, a water pump and an ‘equilibrium tree’, and they can gather at the group tent for games during weekends and school holidays.
On-site eats are sorted splendidly at the cosy WOODZ restaurant, in the middle of a clearing with a lovely shaded terrace. Also cleverly, it’s been situated right next to the playground, so should grownups feel like refreshment while the tiddlies go off and frolic, they can keep an eye on playtime antics while enjoying a well-earned break on the terrace.

Set right in the middle of the Veluwezoom National Park, lots of hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails begin right on site, and the friendly Buitenplaats Beekhuizen organise nature trails around the local area too.
For further family adventures, pack the tadpoles into the car and head 10 minutes west to the famed Burgers' Zoo, or to the Netherlands Open Air Museum near Arnhem to explore reconstructions of traditional dwellings, farms and factories from bygone centuries.
Sights also in the area that are well worth a peek include the 17th-century castle and landscaped gardens in Rozendaal; Oosterbeek’s museum dedicated to the Battle of Arnhem; and the art exhibits and sculpture gardens of the Kröller-Müller Museum.
