Well, this is quite the spot for a desert adventure. If you’d like a dose of genuine Moroccan hospitality, book your stay at Bivouac Relax – it’s in the middle of the desert at Tazoulaït, just off the road between Sidi Ali Tafraoute and Merzouga. Forget the tourist traps, this is the real thing. A friendly on-site team will give you a rapturous welcome and show you about the place. Pitches are scattered under the shade of a palm grove, with mesmerising views over tree-covered valleys to stony Black Desert foothills. Facilities include a café – with desert views – and a restaurant serving simple regional dishes such as tagine, always accompanied by traditional mint tea. Other handy on-site amenities include the modern and fully accessible shower rooms, washing machines and 24-hour security. This is such a peaceful place to relax and recharge – wait for the spectacular sunset on a clear evening and spend a few moments in quiet contemplation of your surroundings – your real life will feel very far away indeed.
