Direct access to a private sandy beach? We'll have some of that for an Italian hol, grazie – and the mammoth aqua park and five fine restaurants on site at Isamar Holiday Village too.
Isamar is deep in the Isolaverde region, just outside the small fishing town of Chioggia and about 45 minutes from Venice by bus. It's been going strong since 1971 and has a big outdoor aqua park with seven themed pools, waterslides, a whirlpool bath tub, kids' water toys and a large solarium; several sports courts to use for football, volleyball, pétanque and basketball, and a busy entertainment programme for kids and teens.
It's also got direct access to that private beach we mentioned, where sun sorts will find sun loungers and beach umbrellas available for hire, a beach bar and a playground.
Also on site ('because food matters in Italy', say the site owners), are five restaurants, serving up a wide range of tasty Italian treats: have a simple sarnie or salad at the beach bar, a pizza baked in a wood-fired oven, a trad Venetian fish dish, a selection of juicy grilled meat...

Local attractions
The nearby town of Chioggia is well known in Italy for its fish market, small canals and piazzas: a boat trip along the canals is a bit of a must during an Isamar Holiday Village stay, as is a trip to the nearby island of Pellestrina on a bragozzo, the typical fishing boat of the northern Adriatic Sea.
If you're floating around the Venetian Lagoon, also make time to stop off at a few of its most famed islands like Torcello, Burano and the glass-making centre of Murano, and to take a tour of the Palladian Villas along the Riviera del Brenta. The arty and historic cities of Padua, Vicenza and Treviso are within easy reach for day trips.
Several theme parks are in the area to keep the kids happy, like Gardaland near Verona, Mirabilandia near Ravenna and Idrofollie in Sottomarina. Kids will probably also like running around the narrow streets and alleys of Venice a 45-minute bus ride away.
