Hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, climbing, ziplines and Segway tours, or skiing, snowshoeing and cross country skiing… they’re all in the vicinity of Camping Al Plan - Dolomites, a peaceful site surrounded by gorgeous views of the Dolomites from its Val Badia location. This quiet site is on the edge of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site, no less) and close to the Kronplatz ski area, with a free shuttle service running up to the slopes through the ski season. All this means that active times are on the cards for guests whether they’re coming along in summer or winter (or… both?) Also on the cards are easy ambles to restaurants, bars and shops, for this site is handily located just on the edge of San Vigilio di Marebbe, just a few minutes’ stroll from the amenities of the town centre (and you’ll be glad of that come evening time if you’ve expended the majority of your energy on hikes or ski sessions by day). Slightly sore around the edges after your day of activity? Make straight for the sauna to soothe any aches, then stretch out in the relaxation area to complete the wind-down. If kids are made of sturdier stuff, send them over to the play area 100 metres away or to the games room to use up a bit more energy. Free wifi’s on hand too if you all need a bit of browsing time. All the essential amenities are sorted at this site, including a modern bathroom block with toilets, showers and baby bathroom. There's also a restaurant, a launderette and a washing-up area.

Liked Staff,layout, good sized pitches,services,cleanliness, peaceful quiet site, great location on edge of village, free bus and train pass with bus stop outside camp. Views were fantastic. Would highly recommend and go back.

Liked Friendly and helpful reception who organised free bus tickets up the valley for great walks.
Excellent toilet / washing facilities.
Great location at entrance to the Dolomites.
Good pizza restaurant next to site.
The site was the most expensive on our trip but probably worth it.

Disliked Not much shade on pitches.

Liked Immaculately kept site in a beautiful setting. Everything you could want for a peaceful relaxed stay with good pitches and excellent spotlessly clean facilities. Only 5 minutes walk from the town centre. Plentiful walking and cycling opportunities and central for visiting all the popular Dolomite attractions. Easy check in and a very warm friendly welcome. The reception team are efficient and very helpful. Special thanks to Martina for all the help and advice. If we are ever so lucky to visit the area again we would without a doubt choose to stay here.

Local attractions

Fresh air and active times – that’s what it’s all about around here. Get your boots on for hikes and climbs through the Fanes-Senes-Braies Natural Park or sign up to see it all from horseback at a riding centre in town. Not enough adrenaline pumping yet? Shoot along the ziplines at Adrenaline X-Treme Adventures, a few minutes’ walk away – that should get your heart properly racing. Winter guests can hail a ride on the free shuttle from the village to the slopes of the Kronplatz ski area; there are 119 kilometres of piste up here, with something for everyone from novices to pro skiers. Ski schools run lessons for those who feel a tad wobbly, and it’s worth taking a breather at the Messner Mountain Museum while you’re in the area too. More breathers can come in the form of trips to local villages: San Martin de Tor (15 minutes’ drive), St Lorenzen (20 minutes) and Mitterolang (half an hour) are all good picks. A wander around Bolzano (an hour and a quarter) is also an idea to see the archaeology museum, the Gothic cathedral and Runkelstein Castle.
