Tiddlers will be in sandy heaven at Camping Continental Toscana – the beach directly accessible from this family-friendly site is Marina di Castagneto, where gently sloping rather than rapidly plunging sands make this a secure setting for all sizes. Also likely to be a cause of much excitement is the closeness of the site to Cavallino Matto, Tuscany's biggest theme park and open all summer for heaps of sunny shenanigans… and the range of facilities around the grounds to fully sort family days. Family-friendly activities, excursions, sports tournaments and evening shows are arranged in summer on site; meanwhile, a playground, volleyball court and basketball court are around for kids to try their luck at, and there's a small shopping centre on site so they can keep fully topped up with eats and other treats. Camping Continental Toscana is in a swathe of pine forest on the Tuscan coast, around 50 kilometres south of Livorno and a couple of kilometres from Marina di Castagneto town. The beach has both private and public areas, as well as a beach volleyball court and canoe and pedalo hire for slightly bigger guests.

Liked The position of the camping at the beach, the genuin atmosphere and the good services around our stay. Friendly staff and clear rules.

Disliked Little tight passages for a caravan at the parking, when passing through. We lost a position side lamp on our caravan. Charging of electric vehicles was available, but too high rates makes it difficult to use. The quality of the Wifi was also poor.

Liked camping bellissimo, la piazzola che ci è stata assegnata era stupenda... vicinissima alla spiaggia e "selvaggia" come piace a noi.
Altra cosa importante il ristorante "gluten free" avendo la moglie celiaca...

Liked Campeggio completamente immerso nella pineta, quindi ottimo per fare una vacanza in tenda perchè si sta sempre al fresco. Direttamente sul mare con spiaggia libera. Offre servizi di animazione; ha all'interno un piccolo negozietto, la coop, un bar e un ristorante.

Disliked Purtroppo è veramente grandissimo e ospita troppe persone. Quindi c'è un via vai costante giorno e notte, code alle docce e poca tranquillità. Consigliato per famiglie, più che per coppie.

After a few days at Marina di Castagneto beach, take things up a notch with a trip to the rides and rollercoasters, safari adventures and daily acrobatic shows of Cavallino Matto, set in a pine forest near the sands. Taken the pace up a tad too much? Calm the kids down with a peaceful day around the Padule di Bolgheri wildlife reserve where thousands of wading birds and waterbirds flock around forest, marshland and sands, or to see animals from all over the world at the fab little zoo of Parco Gallorose. Both are around 20 minutes' drive away. Further afield for city day tips, Pisa is an hour and five minutes' from your beach base and Florence an hour and 50 minutes.
