It's free, quick and easy!
- Small site on the shores of Lake Bracciano
- Family-run with friendly staff
- Pedalo hire, playground and sports courts; pets welcome
If you're looking at holiday destinations in Italy (and of course you should, if you have any sense), you must (must must) take a look at Lake Bracciano. For these waters make up one of the major lakes of the country, blasted into being by a volcanic eruption many moons ago, and now one of the Italy's clearest and cleanest lakes as well as one of its most popular tourist attractions. Go, see and sunbathe.
An even more sensible idea is to stay on the lake's shore, for easy access to all the above – and to Rome, as Italy's jaw-dropping capital is less than an hour's drive south. Settle down then at Camping Vigna di Valle, for a scenic site with spacious, shaded pitches and lush views of the lake: as you'll be bringing your own accommodation, you'll be able to save significant euros here too to spend merrily in Rome.
Your leisurely options include hiring pedalos to take out onto the lake from the site, lounging on its beach, or investigating the lake further with some swimming or sailing. On land, there's a football pitch, tennis and volleyball courts and ping pong tables for adults feeling nicely energetic, and a playground with swings and a slide for to tire out the kids.
The amenities block a short walk from the camping field has toilets, showers, a laundry room and a washing-up area. The site also has a mini market, and is 10 minutes' drive from Anguillara Sabazia for more supplies.
Pets are welcome.

Local attractions
Lake Bracciano is of course your main attraction here: your many options include sailing and canoeing on its peaceful surface (motorboating isn't allowed), or wandering/cycling around its shores.
A few towns – Anguillara Sabazia, Bracciano and Trevignano Romano – are shoreside to explore too: Anguillara Sabazia the closest at 10 minutes' drive, Bracciano within 15 and Trevignano Romano 25. Another option is the 20-minute drive from Camping Vigna di Valle to the small volcanic lake of Lake Martignano, part of the Bracciano-Martignano Regional Nature Park made up of the two lakes and their surrounding countryside: birdwatching, boating and waterside walks are all top picks here.
And then to Rome… it's about 50 minutes' drive to the capital from the site, or you can take the train from Bracciano to land there within the same time, with departures every half hour.
