Stay in Italy by the sea at Villaggio Residence Punta Spin, a holiday village near Grado that's right by a long stretch of golden, sandy – and private – beach. The resort is just off the north-eastern Italian coast, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region between Venice and Trieste; six kilometres from Grado, connected to it by a bus line and a pretty cycle path (or by car in about 10 minutes), and an easy 15-minute drive to the ancient Roman city of Aquileia. Trieste is about 50 minutes away via a looping drive around the peninsula. There's loads to do at this spectacular-looking park: as well as the handsome beach and all its associated basking, swimming and watersports, you can spend time in and around one of the two pools for grownups (kids have their own as well, with slide), or energise yourself somewhat with sporty options aplenty. Basketball, football, beach volleyball and two tennis courts await the active, alongside a gym, bike rental, and, more gently, a miniature golf course. A restaurant, pizzeria, supermarket and a bar with an ice cream parlour are also on site. Back at the sands, Punta Spin's private beach is free for guests to use; a separate area has parasols and sun loungers for hire.

Sind nach 1 Nacht angereist - haben an der Rezeption erklärt warum - mussten den kompletten Zeitraum bezahlen der gebucht war! Frechheit

Liked Gyönyörű, rendezett infrastruktúrával, kedves személyzettel. Szuper kerékpárút veszi körül, autók elől elzárt, sík terepen. A fürdőegységek nagyon tiszták. Ősfás parkban van. Tökéletes nyaralóhely!

Disliked Sajnos a tengerpart a sok tengeri fű miatt élvezhetetlen.

Local attractions

Grado, 10 minutes' drive away, is an excellent starting point for exploring the region: it's a medieval market town with old centre and old piles to wander around, and a waterpark too if all the historical submersion doesn't enthral the kids. Venturing out further, arrange a boat trip from Grado to the Marano-Grado Lagoon and its islands, a prime spot for birdwatching as well as digging into more local history and culture around the old fishermen's houses. The lagoon is also home to the island of Barbana, most famed for its Marian sanctuary that's still active today; visitors are welcome. The ancient Roman ruins, excavations and cathedral of Aquileia are within 15 minutes' drive; for a more shore-based settlement, make for 14th-century Duino Castle overlooking the Gulf of Trieste (30 minutes), where there's a museum and park. The 19th-century Miramare Castle in the Gulf of Trieste is 45 minutes from the site. Trains to Venice (an hour and 35 minutes' ride) depart from Cervignano, 25 minutes away.
