You could be forgiven for thinking you've taken something of a wrong turn when you arrive at WestAdventure… The vibe here is pure Midwest USA, with your accommodation in the Wyoming Lodge being cleverly designed to live up to its name.
If you’d like a little slice of Western life, don your cowboy hats and boots and step this way… You’ll be staying in a cosy wooden lodge that sleeps up to four people and is decorated with genuine ‘made in the USA’ bits and pieces that the owners have collected on their trips across the Atlantic. There are bound to be photo opps galore as you pose with all the props around the place.
And while the owners of this Savoie cabin have clearly had a lot of fun with the decoration, they’ve also put a lot of effort into getting the essential elements just right. The lodge has both heating and air conditioning to keep the temperature just right, there’s a sofa and TV in the living room and the kitchen has been kitted out with a fridge, cooker, washing machine and a good list of small appliances and cooking utensils. There’s also a spacious bathroom; please note you’ll need to bring your own towels and bedding.
The decor and amenities stretch to the outside as well – your private deck area, overlooking Lake Aiguebelette, is similarly filled with American styling and has a dining table and a barbecue. Pick up supplies for the kitchen or barbecue in Novalaise, five minutes' drive away – and while you’re there, maybe you’d also like to grab a couple of drinks to enjoy while you’re soaking in your private hot tub…

Local attractions
You’ll have seen the gorgeous Lake Aiguebelette from your deck, but it’s easy to get closer – the shores of this 1350-acre lake are about five minutes’ drive away. Take a walk by the lakeshore, go fishing or head to a beach area for a swim in these gorgeous waters.
Watersports are popular too – local activity centre Vertes Sensations (five minutes’ drive) hires out canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, and also organises things like climbing, canyoning and paragliding. The lakeshore has several other attractions as well, from active options like the treetop course at Accro'Lac Aiguebelette to the more leisurely history and nature displays at Maison du Lac Aiguebelette (both five minutes).
Hikers have things like waterfalls, caves and viewpoints to look forward to in the surrounding area – but for a change of scenery perhaps take a stroll around the historic centre of Chambéry or explore the Belle Époque architecture of Aix-les-Bains before soaking in its thermal waters (both are about 25 minutes away).
