WestAdventure overlooks Lake Aiguebelette, and it’s easy to get closer – the shores of this 1350-acre lake are about five minutes’ drive away. Take a walk by the lakeshore, go fishing or head to a beach area for a swim in these gorgeous waters. Watersports are popular too – local activity centre Vertes Sensations (five minutes’ drive) hires out canoes, kayaks and paddleboards, and also organises things like climbing, canyoning and paragliding.

Local attractions
As well as watersports, swimming and fishing, Lake Aiguebelette (five minutes' drive) has several other active options like the treetop course at Accro'Lac Aiguebelette to the more leisurely history and nature displays at Maison du Lac Aiguebelette (both five minutes).
Hikers have things like waterfalls, caves and viewpoints to look forward to in the surrounding area – but for a change of scenery, perhaps take a stroll around the historic centre of Chambéry or explore the Belle Époque architecture of Aix-les-Bains before soaking in its thermal waters (both are about 25 minutes away).
The Chartreuse Regional Nature Park (from 10 minutes' drive) should quickly become a go-to for walks, with popular locations including Cascade de Pichut (half an hour), Mont Granier (around an hour) and Dent de Crolles (also around an hour).
Lac du Bourget (from 20 minutes) is north of the site, too; visit its shiny blue waters to see the deepest lake in France, at the foot of the Jura Mountains, and sites like the 12th-century Abbaye d'Hautecombe (45 minutes).
