  • Snack bar, swimming pool, boulodrome and play area in spacious gardens
A small-scale, peaceful and wonderfully relaxed site at sleepy Saulce-sur-Rhône in Drôme Provençale, Camping Le Veronne has new owners for 2026. It’s remarkably easy to get to this little haven too, as it’s five minutes’ drive from exit 17 of the A7 motorway – making a convenient stopover if you’re travelling north or south – and a handy half an hour’s drive south of Valence or 20 minutes north of Montélimar. The site is approached down a leafy driveway leading to large, tree-shaded grass pitches. Another area of the property is designated a chill-out zone and is pedestrianised for your safety. Here you’ll find the swimming pool, a quiet garden for lazing around, a boulodrome and playground, as well as a courtyard bar and informal café. Entertainment – perhaps a market or a barbecue – is laid on every couple of weeks in summer too. Family-friendly facilities include a spotless shower block, a parent-and-baby washroom and launderette. Dogs are welcome, and there is space to stretch their paws around the gardens; please pick up after them and keep them on leads around the site’s sheep.

Local attractions

To experience life in traditional Drôme Provençale villages, head for hilltop Mirmande (10 minutes’ drive), designated one of the ‘plus beaux villages de France’ and a haunt of artists for its meandering alleys, cosy cafés and lively Saturday morning market. With their stone cottages clad in blue shutters and Romanesque churches, Cliousclat (also 10 minutes) and Marsanne (20 minutes) are worth a peek too. For days of urban discovery, Montélimar (20 minutes, you pass lavender fields on the way there) offers nougat-themed museums, shops and factory tours for sweet-toothed visitors, as well as the interactive Palais des Bonbons et du Nougat, with toy displays, a petting farm and sweet shop. Sitting on the mighty River Rhône, Valence (half an hour) is packed with museums, gardens, elegant waterside promenades and a maze-like old town. If you’re an active family, then it’s walking in Mirmande orchards (10 minutes), cycling quiet country lanes or canoeing on the Ardèche river for you. You can also go zorbing and clambering over inflatable obstacle courses at the 100% CLUB (five minutes), or take to treetop rope bridges at Joncas Aventure (25 minutes).
