Electric optional grass pitch

Liked I chose this site as a halfway point on my way from the ferry to the Pyrennees so only stayed 1 night.
Nice quite grassy site. No pitches marked out, just pitch wherever you want.

Disliked The ownership/management was a bit odd. No one in the house when I arrived, then several hours later a young woman got out of a motorhome and came over with a card machine. There was another couple with a child there who seemed to be with her, and there was very much a feeling of ownership about them. There was a friendly cat on site which the man at one point fired his water pistol at. On the whole they made me feel uncomfortable and as if I was intruding on their private campsite.

From the manager: Hi Helena,
I'm sorry that you had a bad experience in my campsite.
Indeed, that evening I was away for work. I have a foodtruck and I'm working on events. My tiny camping (6 pitches) is not enought intake to live. Instructions are written on the door in french and in english. It's explained that you can set-up in case nobody is home and don't worry ! My phone number is written on every posters so you can call me at any moment. It's not odd, It's like that in many small campings everywhere in Europe. You can't expect a reception desk open 24h/7day. How much are you ready to pay for that service ?
you staid only one night so I couldn't see you but I organized something to make it easy.
That's why I asked the girl in the motorhome if she can arrange the paiement with you. She's here for a long stay and she's friendly but she can't speak english. She's also the owner of the cat. Other people with her are her friend and family. They were just playing with the cat. They are here since long time and I never saw any mistreatment. Those customers are respectfull of the camping in general and friendly with everybody so I'm really surprised to read your review.

Local attractions

There are plenty of places to get out for a walk around here, whether you’re hoping for a long hike through the scenery of the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park (15 minutes’ drive) or a more gentle stroll around some of the area’s historic buildings. If you’re more in the mood for the latter, plan trips to Château de Villebois-Lavalette (10 minutes), a large site where restoration works are ongoing and various cultural events take place through the year, and the grand Château de la Mercerie (also 10 minutes). There’s also the chance to have a fascinating underground walk at Caves Quéroy (25 minutes) or to explore the man-made caves at Les cluzeaux d’Argentine (15 minutes). Angoulême (half an hour) is well worth a day out too – the city is nicknamed the ‘balcony of the southwest’ because of its elevated position, and it has some lovely views across the surrounding area. It’s a very arty place too, with lots of street art to look out for and the fabulous Musée de la Bande Dessinée to visit.
