Local attractions

Several scenic hiking and cycling trails through Tarn vineyards, sunflower fields and olive groves can be directly accessed from the site; ask the owners for more details. For a fun-filled day out with the kids, head for Cap Découverte (15 minutes’ drive), a lakeside activity centre set up with waterslides, rope courses, go-karts and waterski hire. There’s a fair amount of history to discover in this gorgeous corner of south-west France; classed as one of the prettiest villages in France, Cordes-sur-Ciel (10 minutes) is a prime example of a “bastide” (fortified) hilltop town dating from the early 13th century. Castelnau-de-Montmiral (20 minutes) has a medieval heart centred on an arcaded medieval square, while UNESCO-listed Albi (20 minutes) beckons with an atmospheric red-brick old town, a soaring cathedral and fine artwork in the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum. You can visit the Abbey Saint-Michel in handsome, historic Gaillac (25 minutes), which also sits at the centre of its namesake wine region. There are several vineyards open for tours, tasting and buying within 20 minutes’ drive of your pitch.
