- Small family-run site in the spectacular Gorges du Tarn
- Direct access to a private riverside beach and near walking trails
- Communal barbecue, play area and motorhome service point
A peaceful setting in the spectacular Gorges du Tarn is splendid reason enough to settle down at Camping Le Pont in the Aveyron department – but a holiday here also has access to a private path leading to a small swimming beach along the river Tarn. This lush spot is close to kayaking and canoeing in the Tarn and within easy reach of paragliding over these lovely surrounds. It's also a short drive from Roquefort and the Millau viaduct, and 25 minutes' drive away from Gorges de la Jonte.
As you may have figured, Camping Le Pont is a handy base for heaps of attractions and activities around the Tarn and the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park… and it's also a good place for comfy and quiet nights after long days investigating the region. Walking trails are nearby and a public pool is about a kilometre away (a small charge applies).
Le Pont is a spacious and green site, where many of the roomy pitches are set under trees. It has loads of room to roam around, a playground with swing, an open-air heated pool (open from mid June to mid December), a ping pong table, trampoline, one pétanque court and a pool table available for guests' use. A communal barbecue and a number of picnic tables are near the camping field.
Amenities include toilets and showers, near the camping area, and there's also a motorhome service point.

Local attractions
Camping Le Pont is in the Gorges du Tarn, a lush green canyon by the Tarn river running from Le Rozier north of Millau to Quézac. Kayaking, canoeing, paragliding, climbing and fishing are all popular here, in the surrounding Grands Causses Regional Natural Park and further east in the Cévennes National Park.
About 35 kilometres by car, via Aguessac, is the vast viaduct of Millau, the tallest bridge in all the world at 343 metres at its highest point (between the heights of the Empire State Building and the Eiffel Tower). The best way to see the bridge if you want to snap a pic (as you won't be able to stop on it, obvs) is to park in Millau town then take the bus from the tourist office, or hike the (many) steps to the viewing point on the bridge's north.
From Millau, wind up the narrow road out of town and up to the Chaos de Montpellier-le-Vieux, a spectacular rock formation above the Gorges du la Dourbie. There are five trails to follow around these limestone outcrops, or a tourist train that will take you to the main viewing points.
Also near Millau is Roquefort, home of the fab and famed cave-aged sheep milk cheese: souvenirs aplenty must be picked up if you're anywhere around these parts.
