What a lot there is to like about this campsite in the Eure-et-Loire department of the Loire Valley, a short train ride from Paris. (Loire Valley + close to Paris = reasons numero un and deux).
Camping les Ilots de St Val is in a splendid setting for the Loire Valley châteaux, the wine regions along the Loire River, the French capital, the Palace of Versailles and – but of course – the local cuisine.
If you want to stay local to the site on some days (wine sampling and châteaux exploring can be tiring), outdoor activities like cycling, hiking, fishing, canoeing and horse riding are all available nearby, and the park is in a peaceful wildlife haven for gentle nature-spotting strolls. A tennis court and a golf course are short drive away.
Facilities at this friendly and welcoming site include include fishing, bike hire, a play area, a tennis court and a launderette. The amenities blocks with showers and toilets are also suitable for disabled guests.

The lovely Loire Valley is one of the most famed areas of France and has enough to do to keep you coming back to the region for yonks – much recommended.
If it's castles you're after, several rather spesh ones are within easy driving distance of Camping les Ilots de St Val, like the Château de Nogent-le-Roi and its park four kilometres away, the Château de Maintenon (5km), and the Royal Chapel of Dreux, the Château d'Anet and the Château de Rambouillet, all 23km away.
Also take time to see the vineyards of this vast UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the Loire River, the valley villages and its cities such as Orléans, Tours, Saumur and Angers.The Palace of Versailles and Paris are both a short distance away.
Just can't get around all the sites you'd like to see? Potter along to France Miniature in Élancourt, which has scale models of major French landmarks and monuments among a network of model trains.
