Providing a taster of the manyfold treasures of Brittany, Vacances ULVF - Ty an Diaoul is 15 minutes’ drive from gorgeous seaside Sarzeau and handily placed near the Gulf of Morbihan, long sandy beaches and expanses of salt marsh. The site also has easy access to adventure parks, the Customs Officers’ Path hiking route and the cyclists’ Vélomaritime around the Pink Granite Coast.
In short, there’s lots to do off site. But what about keeping the kids happy at base camp? That won’t be a problem either, thanks to leisure facilities including a heated outdoor pool, pétanque, a multi-sports court and ping-pong tables. When the kids need a rest, you can all retreat to the TV lounge, and as a special treat for the younger ones, Gigi the inflatable cosmic giraffe makes an appearance during the July/August school holidays. Entertainment for kids from age eight to 18 is organised during the week in peak season as well.
Accommodation on this leafy site is in partially shaded, well-equipped Breton-style holiday cottages with decking outside. You can cook for yourselves, join in with the site’s weekly communal barbecues, or forget about catering altogether and head for the bar or snack bar (both only open in July and August).

Local attractions
What will be first, negotiating treetop rope courses or mountain bike tracks at Celt’Aventures (10 minutes’ walk), or a chilled day swimming and kayaking on Plage de Banastère (15 minutes)? You can launch boats from the slipway at Cale de Ker Ikou (10 minutes), or drive to sandy Plage de Landrezac (five minutes by car) to catch the winds for kitesurfing.
Long coastal hikes might lead you to stunning seascapes at Pointe de Penvins (50 minutes’ walk), scattered with tiny beaches, or take you to the protected Marais de Penvins (40 minutes) to spot wading birds on strolls around the marsh. Saline de Truscat (15 minutes’ drive) is another good place for birdwatching, where you can also see salt being produced using centuries-old methods.
The traditional Breton seaside village of Sarzeau (also 15 minutes) has a castle and yacht harbour to explore, and historic Vannes (half an hour) a medieval centre wrapped by ramparts and packed with half-timbered houses. Further afield, the mysterious Brocéliande Forest (an hour) awaits, crossed by woodland paths and birthplace of many a Celtic legend.
