It's free, quick and easy!
- Three-acre site by a forest and 300 metres from the Scorff river
- Half an hour's drive from Lorient and 40 from Guidel beach
- Breton theme nights in summer with live music, dancing and food
What a cracking location has Camping de Pont Calleck: this Morbihan site is spread across three whole acres of gorgeous greenery on the edge of a forest and 300 metres from the banks of the Scorff river (excellent news for hikers, dog walkers, kayakers and fishing types…).
The site itself carries on the peaceful rural vibe, with lots of native plants and plenty of shade under the trees. At its centre is a sociable entertainment area, where guests can gather for games of pétanque, badminton or table tennis, or get the grill going at the barbecue area while the nippers play on the trampoline and slide (all close enough to keep a beady eye on what they’re up to).
The highlight of the social scene here comes around on Wednesday nights in high season, when the central courtyard becomes a hub of traditional Bréton music, dance, food and all-round merrymaking. For food needs at other times, it’s off into Inguiniel, just over five minutes’ drive away, for restaurants or shops.
If you’ve come to these parts to immerse yourselves in country life, that’s easily done – there are plenty of places nearby for walks, bike rides, watersports, horse riding and clambering along treetop trails. And if you’d like to mix up the rural life with some of Brittany’s family attractions? That’s equally easily done: Pont-Scorff zoo and the Keroman Submarine Base are both within a half-hour drive, for starters, and it’s around 40 minutes to the beach at Guidel.

Local attractions
Rural options aplenty around here: perhaps a gentle stroll along the riverbank (or a much, much lengthier one along the GR38 long-distance path, which passes 500 metres away), or trundling around in a golf buggy at Parc Aquanature (15 minutes’ drive) in search of the resident deer herds. There’s a lake beach for swims and watersports at Lac du Bel-air (15 minutes), and a whole raft of activities to try out at Village Loisirs de Ty Nadan (20 minutes) – horse riding, paddleboarding, Segway rides, high ropes courses…
Back down at ground level, it’s a fine idea to head over to the coast at least once, for beach days in Guidel (40 minutes) or boat rides over to the island of Groix from Lorient (half an hour). It’s worth scheduling a bit of time in Lorient too – the Keroman Submarine Base and the interactive sailing-themed exhibits at Cité de la Voile Eric Tabarly are both top visits here.
More? Pont-Scorff zoo (25 minutes) is perennially popular, as is Kingoland amusement park (40 minutes).
