The experience at Bot-Conan Lodge is as much about what it doesn't have as what it does have, say the owners. This laidback Finistère glamping site is not a place where you'll find colourful waterslides, manicured exotic gardens, nightclubs or a kids' club. That’s not to say that there’s a lack of facilities here – far from it – but just that the team have chosen to keep things low key, with more of a 'quiet luxury' approach. This is, after all, a stunning location in its own right – it's surrounded by a lovely natural landscape of meadows and pastures and is so close to the coast that it has its own gate opening onto a quiet and sheltered beach. While there are no entertainments laid on especially for them, kids are very welcome here, and are likely to have many a happy hour scampering about on the beach or trying out local activities. Paddleboards and canoes can be borrowed from the site, and there are also places nearby for fishing, cycling, sailing and snorkelling. The GR34 coastal footpath runs right past the site, and there's world-class surfing at Pointe de la Torche (40 minutes' drive away). The glamping tents here are stylish and kitted out with hotel-quality beds, well-equipped kitchens and covered outdoor dining tables. Shared facilities include smart bathrooms and a clubhouse with an Aga to cook on, a cosy drawing room to relax in, and a breakfast room where pastries and juices are available in the morning (with coffee and tea available all day). Table tennis, pétanque, a hot tub and a sauna are also on site for guests to use.

Local attractions

Fancy a walk? The GR34 – a 2000km trail also known as the Sentier des Douaniers – passes next to the site for good long coastal walks. If that sounds a little daunting, just take an easy stroll to La Roche Percée, a sea arch five minutes’ walk away. Other laidback ways to see some of the local scenery include boat trips to the stunning Glénan Islands from Beg Meil (five minutes’ drive) or cruises along the Odet river from Bénodet (15 minutes). Both Beg Meil and Bénodet also have ways to dial the pace up a little – the first with its tennis courts and the latter with Expéria Park Bénodet, an adventure park where you can swing through the trees. How about some town outings while you’re here as well? Concarneau (25 minutes) has a walled town to explore, and lovely Quimper (half an hour) is home to a cathedral and museums. There’s also Pont-Aven (half an hour), a pretty riverside village that inspired Paul Gauguin and other artists.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro) and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Quiet hours must be respected between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
The site is not liable for any refund in the event of force majeure.

Hired accommodation

Hired accommodation: €200.00 (£171.12) damage/cleanliness/bracelet deposit is required on arrival and will be refunded on departure after inspection of your unit should no damage/losses be found.
Your unit must be left clean and tidy; a fine of €100.00 (£85.56) will be charged for unclean units upon departure.
