  • A 20-minute drive to the pink granite coast; walk to the beach in 15
  • Mini farm with a horse, rabbits and goats and an indoor pool on site
How to sum up Camping Les Capucines? A friendly, family atmosphere – tick. An excellent base for hiking the GR34 along the Brittany coast? Tick, again. And if that’s not enough, this family-friendly site also has a mini farm with a horse, rabbits and goats and a gorgeous setting… that’s a landscaped 10-acre park with flowers and spacious pitches bordered by hedges. Beach days… yes please. In Trédrez-Locquémeau, Camping les Capucines is 15 minutes’ walk from the beach at Saint-Michel-en-Grève in the Bay of Lannion, where there’s a surf school and kitesurfing school. With the pink granite coast starting from Trebeurden, 20 minutes’ drive from the site, you’re certainly well-based for seeing its pink-hued rocky outcrops and cliffs too. At the site, there’s a warm welcome and a calm atmosphere meant to put you at ease. Family-friendly? Very much so. The facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, paddling pool, 27-metre waterslide, multi-sports fields, pétanque, skate park, table tennis, miniature golf course, playground and an inflatable structure. When you adults fancy a drink, there are cocktails, beers and Breton cider available at the on-site bar. Pick up regional products for any barbecues from the site’s small food shop too – and save some scraps for your canine friend, as dogs are permitted at Camping les Capucines too.

Local attractions

Whether you’re browsing local markets (of which there are many) or going for hikes on the Voie Romaine Roman roads across France, there’s plenty to keep you active. Perhaps sea kayaking, sailing, land sailing and windsurfing with the watersports centre in Plestin-les-Grèves (15 minutes’ drive)? As well as the 18-hole Golf de Saint Samson (15 minutes), there are riding stables and plenty more outdoor activities centres a short drive away. There's no shortage of local beaches either: the village of Locquémeau is not far from Pointe du Dourven (10 minutes), Plage de Notigou (10 minutes), the smaller Plage de Kirio (10 minutes), the harbour and the Pointe de Séhar (10 minutes). Those of you looking to sail off to local islands might be interested in trips further afield to Île-de-Bréhat, Île de Batz and the Jentilez bird reserve. Splendid seaside resorts include Trebeurden (25 minutes), Trégastel (25 minutes), Ploumanac'h (half an hour) and Perros-Guirec (25 minutes) and there’s sublime coastal scenery and archaeology at Le Yaudet (10 minutes). As for historical places of interest, to the south is Saint-Michel-en-Grève (20 minutes’ walk) and its historic buildings, especially the mariner’s cemetery. You might be interested in Castle Rosanbo (15 minutes), Château de Kergrist (15 minutes), Château de Tonquédec (20 minutes), the mill at Crec'h Olen (10 minutes) and numerous chapels, churches and churchyards too.
