Camping Le Riva Bella is in a nifty neck of the woods for those travelling through Lower Normandy and seeking a stop-off on their way south, as it's near the Caen ferry port in Ouistreham and handy for a rest on the way from Portsmouth if you're coming from England. But many travellers come here for longer, too, as the site is a short drive away from D-Day landing beaches and the war memorial of Pegasus Bridge. The nearest landing beach is Sword Beach, just over two kilometres away (a five-minute drive or a 35-minute walk). To add to all of that, Camping Le Riva Bella has direct access to the canal of the Orne river for evening strolls or daytime cycles along the riverbank. And what about the set-up on site? There's a friendly atmosphere, plus a playground and a pool area (open during the high season only) with waterslides and not one, not two, but three pools: one indoors, one outdoors and a paddling pool for the kids. A mini farm, table tennis tables and several dining venues complete the picture, alongside no-frills amenities including toilet blocks with hot showers and a washing-up area. The marina, casino and shops of Ouistreham centre are just over a kilometre away.

Liked Facilities were clean.

Disliked It said you could check in a 2pm, a bloke came there at 3.15. He said he had been helping someone, when we had seen him having his hair cut on a balcony. He said we had to leave at 10am the next morning, when I booked it it said midday. We were given the darkest pitch stuck in a corner by ourselves. Only 10 minutes WIFI.

Disliked The pitch was very uneven and difficult to access the electric plug. Lot of leaves had fallen and not cleared up . We were only staying one night as getting ferry so didn’t matter too much.

Liked Easy check in, great showers, pools looked brilliant, was only there for one night so didn't try, WiFi was €8, Carrefour 5mins away

Liked Great site perfect location for us ,pools were warm even the outdoor ,nice little bar restaraunt on site supermarkets less than 5 mins ,landing beaches and memorials all close by ,

Disliked Noise was a little bit of an issue first few nights but that was just people not observing the 10pm quiet time ,
