  • Peaceful and friendly Dordogne valley site, 1.5km from the Dordogne
  • Three and a half kilometres from Domme and 14 from Sarlat
  • Pools, restaurant and organised cycle tours and canoe trips in summer
Pools, views and a setting close to the Dordogne river and the old old towns of Domme and Sarlat – what a smashing site this is. Friendly and peaceful Camping Le Pech de Caumont is in a highly scenic setting, with spectacular views over the Dordogne valley and with heaps to do in its handsome surroundings: the Dordogne river is a kilometre and a half away for swimming, fishing and lounging on several handily located beaches, and guided hikes, canoe trips and mountain bike tours leave from the site in summer. History and culture trips? Even the kids might be tempted… the 13th-century town of Domme is within a couple of kilometres and Périgord Noir capital Sarlat is within 20; two châteaux (Castelnaud and Beynac) are within 20 minutes' drive, and little adventurers should surely like a potter below ground at the Domme cave, three kilometres away. But there are pools to dip into too. Le Pech de Caumont has two, one for grownups and one for kids, both scenically set and with sun loungers alongside. A playground and trampoline are also to hand, as well as a games room, pétanque court and table tennis – if, indeed, you're ever on site and not river swimming, valley cycling or town and cave sightseeing… Evening activities including barbecues, treasure hunts and music nights run in summer, or you could just mosey along to the restaurant and terrace, for Périgord cuisine, fine French wine, and a natter with your fellow guests.

Liked El ambiente y la amabilidad

Disliked El verano fue muy seco y había poco césped. Las cenas estuvieron muy bien pero cenábamos todos a la vez y los tiempos de espera eran grandes.

Liked If I said Everything! This should only be taken from my own POV! But, seriously- it is one of the nicest campsites
I have been to in France.

This campsite has such a beautiful vibes. The owners and staff were amazing and could not have done more to help make our holiday as great as it was. I travelled as a single mum, with two teenage boys in a campervan, boys in the tent. A first time adventure, that far on my own.

I was given a warm welcome by Nat and the team! 🙏🏻 Who were really kind and helpful during our stay.

The views, the people, being in nature, ❤️

Loved it!

Liked Nice pool. Bar area nicely maintained. The cleaning staff do a really good job on the toilets block. It’s a we bit dated but kept clean. Reception are there if / when you need them. They do a lovely pizza at the bar and sell draft Leffe blonde! Live band were good. Pitch was really big. Nice ambience and it’s located a five minute drive from Cenac St Julienne and the banks of the river Dordogne. The walk into Cenac is a bit hairy though with no pavements so you need to use the adjoining fields and it takes about 30 minutes to get there. The site is nice and quiet at night with no traffic noise so you’ll get a good nights sleep. You get a lovely view of both Cenac and the world heritage site Domme. You must see Domme. It’s amazing and is only a 15 minute drive away. I stayed here for 3 nights which was sufficient for my travel party’s needs. Would recommend for 3 to 4 nights but you need a car to enjoy the surrounding area as the site is up a big hill and challenging on foot in 34 degree heat!

Disliked I didn’t dislike anything. The price was good value for money and the facilities were excellent. Would recommend that you take a water filter (Britas or similar) as the tap water is quite cloudy because of the chalk.

Local attractions

Caves, castles, canoeing and culture: this part of the Dordogne valley has the lot. After investigating the waters of the Dordogne, have a day trip to Domme (10 minutes' drive), in spectacular setting 250 metres above sea level overlooking the Dordogne river. The town is a bastide, with lengthy and colourful history: the Knight Templars were banged up here in 1307 and England wrangled France – several times – for Domme possession during the Hundred Years War. If the kids' eyes have now glazed over, take them to Domme's Knight Templars prison to see the knightly graffiti etched into the stone, and then on to Sarlat (20 minutes), for splendid views of this splendid town from the glass elevator in the bell tower. As well as the cave of Domme (10 minutes), subterranean explorers should also get along to the prehistoric caves in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, 35 minutes away.
