  • Peaceful family-friendly site 10 minutes' walk from Ražanac
  • Within 20 minutes' drive of Pag, Zadar and island boat trips
  • In a centuries-old pine forest 15 minutes' walk from the beach
Planning a few days pottering along the Dalmatian coast? Then consider planning a stay at Camping Planik, a peaceful spot in a pine forest 10 minutes’ walk from the pretty fishing village of Ražanac. This is a super spot for those with an eye on a bit of island-hopping – hit the road just outside the site to drive to Pag in a matter of 15 minutes or so, or zoom down to Zadar in 20 minutes for ferries to lots of other little islands, including the gorgeous Kornati Islands. Back on the mainland, the Paklenica National Park is half an hour away for hikes, climbing and leisurely riverside rambles. Before heading out to see all this, it’s highly recommended that you schedule time for a bit of time chilling out on site, perhaps finding a shaded spot for a snooze under the centuries-old trees or gazing out at the views across the water to the Velebit mountains. If you wish for a little wander, stretch your legs with a stroll to Ražanac for beachside beers and seawater paddles. While you’re in the village, it’s worth picking up a few supermarket supplies too; that way you’ll be sorted when it comes to time to light the barbie for your evening eats. You can pack the kids off to the site’s small playground for a bit of peace while you prep, and then get everyone cleaned up at the smart modern bathroom block ahead of dinner time (or whenever you fancy, really…)

Local attractions

Fresh-air fiends, you’ve picked a fab spot, whether you like to take it all in at a gentle pace or set yourself challenges. If you’re of the latter sort, there are plenty of uphill hiking trails and cliffs to climb in the Paklenica National Park, and aquatic adventures to had kayaking or rafting along the Zrmanja river – both are around half an hour away by car. For something altogether less energy-sapping, head down to Zadar (20 minutes away) to board boat trips around the stunning islands of the Kornati National Park, stopping in selected places to swim, sunbathe and feast on local seafood. Once dropped back on dry land, stick around in Zadar to visit the Museum of Illusions before settling down to watch the sunset accompanied by the mighty sounds of the Sea Organ. And that’s not it for the national parks… you can get to the Plitvice Lakes National Park with just over an hour’s drive or to the Krka National Park in 45 minutes. If you pick the latter, wander among the waterfalls and seek out the island house built by local priests using eggs instead of cement (NB: don’t try this at home).
