Outdoorsy types, listen up… here you’ll find a well-equipped and family-friendly four-star site, right on the shore of Croatia’s largest lake, Vransko (which is a designated nature park), and within walking or cycling distance of the Adriatic Sea. Make the most of your lakeside location at Pakoštane’s appropriately named Camp Vransko Lake Crkvine with a bit of fishing, or rent kayaks on site for watery explores. Rent bikes from the team instead and trundle off on the path around the lake, keeping an eye out for some historic monument spots while you pedal (you can do it on foot, too, if you’re not one of life’s cyclers). The lake is a real bird haven, so be on the lookout for some feathered sightings… or make your way to the park’s ornithological reserve if you take your birdwatching more seriously. The activity continues back at base, where a tennis court, three multisports pitches, ping pong tables and a bocce court await for some (friendly) competition. There’s also a playground and a miniature golf course in case the kids still have some energy left. When it’s time to load up on food and drink, the on-site restaurant and beach bar are a welcome sight, and there’s also a handy shop for snacks and essentials. Barbecues and campfires are also permitted, so you're welcome to get grilling. As for the practical bit, there’s a modern amenity block, access to fridges and a washing machine, a washing-up area and free wifi.

Liked El personal muy atento y amable. Llegamos las dos noches fuera de horario de la recepción y el personal de seguridad tenia todo controlado y nos ubicó sin ningún problema. Los baños muy limpios y accesibles. Posibilidad de alquilar nevera, alquilar motos, patinetes eléctricos y barcos para visitar el lago o pescar si te gusta. Tiene una pequeña tienda con todo lo necesario para una emergencia y para comprar pan recién hecho por la mañana.

Desde este parque visitamos Zadar y Split, para luego continuar el viaje hacia Zagreb.

Disliked en estos sitios es muy normal, pero al ser un pinar por las noches se escuchaban mucho las chicharras.

Local attractions

If you fancy a bit of a chillout day, pick one of several beaches around (you could always opt for some watersports if you’re missing the action). Janice, Punta and Pilatuša beaches can all be reached in about 35 minutes on foot (or within 10 minutes by car if you don’t fancy lugging your beach bits around). Slightly further out are Dolaška Draga and Soline beaches (15-minute drive). Aside from the Vransko Lake Nature Park, where you’ll surely spend some roaming time, there’s plenty more exploring to do. Stick with parks and you can also tick off Kornati National Park, Telašćica Nature Park and Krka National Park – the latter of which is known for its gorgeous waterfalls. You could also take a boat trip to the car-free Vrgada island, full of scenic forest and sandy and pebbly beaches to wander, go in search of spectacular views at the Čelinka viewpoint (five minutes) or stroll around the marina in Biograd na Moru (10 minutes). For a family-friendly day out, get yourselves to Fun Park Biograd theme park (10 minutes), which has a bunch of rides to please the whole gang.
