- Peaceful family site next to Trstenica Beach on the Pelješac Peninsula
- A 15-minute walk from the centre of Orebić; 25 from ferries to Korčula
- Outdoor swimming pool on site; Sveti Ilija hike 35 minutes’ walk away
What a pretty place this is on the Pelješac Peninsula: Dalmata Camping, on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, is right opposite Trstenica Beach in Orebić, where pebbles, sand and the sea – a glorious shade of turquoise – invite you for hours of idling. The peaceful family site is also within a 25-minute walk of Orebić port, where ferries can whisk you over to the island of Korčula.
You may very well find yourself flitting between Orebić town centre and Dalmata Camping like a yo-yo. On the one hand, the site has a gorgeous outdoor swimming pool and all the facilities you could need to pass the hours (a shower and toilet block, washing machines, wifi…). However, in the town centre, there are pretty cafés, restaurants and bars, all within 15 minutes' walk of your pitch. The grand homes of 20th-century sea captains line the town's waterfront, and old artefacts related to this maritime history can be seen at the town museum.
The watersports centre at Trstenica Beach is just a five-minute walk from the site too, so renting a jet ski, kayak or paddleboard for an hour or two is easily arranged. If you’d rather take in the full scope of the peninsula from its highest peak, the Sveti Ilija hiking trail is a 35-minute walk from base; at 961 metres high, the mountain summit is a fair climb uphill, so arrive well-prepared for the feat.
Windsurfers are handily based just a 15-minute drive from Viganj. If you’ve never dabbled in the sport before, the town has windsurfing centres running lessons. And, finally, if you’re peckish after all of those sea-based activities, make sure to stock up on goodies at the site’s nearest supermarket (a three-minute drive from the gates),

Local attractions
Coming to the Pelješac Peninsula for windsurfing? Viganj (15 minutes’ drive) and Kućište (10 minutes) are the places to be, with their powerful breezes and Viganj's windsurfing schools. Both places may be top spots for wind sports, but they are also undeniably spectacular. Plaža Sveti Liberan (15 minutes) in Viganji has views of the island of Korčula, for starters.
If seeing Korčula from afar isn’t quite enough, head to Port Orebić (25 minutes’ walk) to catch the ferry directly there. Potter around the old town and beaches, before heading to a bar to taste Grk, a white wine produced on the island that is so rare it’s not exported elsewhere.
Back on the Pelješac Peninsula, there are plenty of wineries and vineyards scattered around, all within a short drive of the site. Those who simply can’t resist a good dish with olive oil will surely want to check out Lovište (25 minutes) too, where thousands of olive trees are grown.
