Local attractions

Once you’ve wandered around the site, you may like to head out to explore more of this area's incredible nature in places like Eurimbula National Park (five minutes’ drive) or Deepwater National Park (50 minutes). Mountain bike tours can be booked locally too, or you could play a scenic round at 1770 Golf Course & Driving Range (two minutes). The wildlife isn't just on land, of course, so you may also want to join an eco tour along the coast in the big pink amphibious vehicle run by 1770 LARC! Tours (10 minutes), or take a day trip to Lady Musgrave Island to go snorkelling among the turtles and other marine life of the southern Great Barrier Reef. Back on land, there are some great spots nearby for fishing, watersports and surfing – including hitting the waves at Agnes Water beach, considered to be the northernmost surf beach on Australia’s east coast. For a break from all the activity, learn about the history of Captain James Cook at Agnes Water Museum, or just head to the beach for a sunset picnic.
