Amza Valbona Mountain Retreat

Stretching on the banks of the Valbona River, close to the border with Montenegro, Valbona Valley National Park is renowned for its ragged, Dolomite-like peaks, waterfalls and glacial lakes, and extensive areas of ancient woodland. The trailhead for the Valbona-to-Theth path is about 10 minutes’ walk from the site, and there are splendid mountain views from the Përshëndetje Lookout (five minutes’ drive). In the Accursed Mountains, Maja Jezercë (five minutes) is the second-highest peak in Albania (at close to 2,700 metres). Climbing this mountain is not for the faint-hearted, but those who are willing to face the challenge can look forward to spectacular views across the Balkans. Mulliri i Vjetër i Valbonës (five minutes) is a historic watermill on the Valbona River. To the south-east, the Shtrejt Bridge (half an hour) crosses the crystal-clear waters of the river, along the length of which are natural pools and waterfalls like Valentine’s Cascading Stylish Sips Waterfall.
