General

  • Working farm in a valley near Lampeter
  • Private fishing lake
  • Hot tub with spectacular Welsh countryside views

If there’s anything better than toasting in a hot tub with views of your private trout fishing lake and of the cracking Welsh countryside, on a site with camping pods so classy they have their own heated towel rails, then we, dear readers, would like to know what.

Perhaps a glass of wine on the patio beside the hot tub while the kids are otherwise occupied at the outdoor play area or bouncing on the trampoline? Taking a kayak or boat out on the lake? Dolphin spotting from the cracking coast of Cardigan Bay five miles away? Have the lot, why not, at Cwmcoedog Farm in Ceredigion, a working farm in a wooded valley near the town of Lampeter.

The posh pods at Cwmcoedog Farm all have electric and access to a smart bathroom pod with shower, loo and washing facilities. Podders can also use the laundry room with washer/dryer, drying area and secure bike storage.

No sunshine some day? No problem: the laundry room doubles as a games room for playing pool, darts and table tennis, having a natter with other guests about your west Wales plans, or telling all and sundry how much you like toasting in the hot tub...

    Absolutely loved this experience!
I can’t fault it at all; owners are lovely and VERY welcoming.we were welcomed to our warm pods, before we arrived neris gave us a call to ask for a ETA so he could warm pods for us & made sure the hot tub was ready to go. At first we struggled to get the pizza oven going then our lovely Neris appeared from no where and came to the rescue 😂. After cooking pizzas so early we started to get hungry and they went out of there way to tell us some takeaway companies willing to deliver! Can not wait to return! Already recommended to friends!

What an amazing site. A large field containing only 3pods, with two showers and 2 toilets, which were very clean. Also on site was a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer. As well as a pizza stove.

My two young children met up with a few other children on site during our stay. They enjoyed having the freedom to play outdoors with their new made friends.
They also loved the games room too. Don't worry there was something for the adults too!a lovely hot tub to enjoy a glass of wine and watching the sun setting over the hills and fields.
My children, my little 'random masters' were unable to do a clip of this site, as they were too busy playing with their friends in the evening and exploring the nearby area and coastline during the day. However I did manage to put a little clip up of the pod site on u tube. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the 'Pods at Cwmcoedog Farm, Lampeter'
It would be great to have family /friends staying in the other two pods next time

We absolutely loved the area and the site itself was amazing. The pods were comfortable and lovely and warm. The facilities were perfect for our special family weekend, with great fun had by all in the hot tub and boating on the lake. We arrived for a surprise family birthday treat for our Son - the weekend was made perfect by the experience we had.
Our welcome was lovely, warm and genuine without being intrusive.
    Everywhere was kept spotlessly clean.
We cant wait to book again next year - perfect for long weekend breaks.

    Disliked:

There was nothing we would change - only thing we feel is required is lighting on steps leading up to hot tub.

From the manager...

I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
The automatic light that comes on to light the steps leading to the hot tub had fused, we apologise for this , but unless we are told about it - we can't change it.
Hope to welcome you all back again.

Hot tub and amenities. The view is outstanding. They've worked hard to supply everything you need and are still adding touches such as the pizza oven which unfortunately wasn't ready yet. There is a small fridge and freezer and a microwave ,which we didn't realise and even a washing machine and tumble dryer. Don't hesitate to book.

    Disliked:

The pods are too close together. Not much privacy and awful if you get noisy neighbours. Pod 3 would have been better facing the pond to give a bit of privacy but that's my only small gripe. We forgot the kettle , I would have loved if there had been one in the kitchen but I really am being picky. I'm grumpy without my coffee and truly am a "glamper"
PS: The wifi is non existent.

From the manager...

Thank you for taking the time to give us your view of your experience.
We have been waiting for the plumber to come to fit the chimney to the pizza oven - which we are glad to report is today up and running. We look forward to welcoming you back to try the oven out.
We do tell people to bring all their camping equipment, so perhaps next time you will remember to bring your kettle!
Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about sighting of the pod, or about noisy neighbours on site - unless we are told about it.
Hope to welcome you back.

This place is a little diamond! Set in a beautiful place! Just what me and my best friend were looking for! The Pod was immaculate, warm and cosy.. bigger than we expected. Everything which we needed was on site, although we did come prepared with food and of course beers. There is a shower Pod which again was immaculate and a 30 second walk from our Pod. There is a fridge on site, games room, kayaking, a little boat and a fire pit with wood, which is all
free to use as and when you please! But we must say the hot tub and the view we're the best parts. You can use the hot tub whenever you like- which was awesome! On arrival we were greeted by the owners who were so welcoming and was very good to show us around the place! The best thing was, we wasn't mithered during our stay we were left to our own devices which is what we wanted! We felt as though we could relax and enjoy! The owners were very friendly and if we were to of wanted of anything we felt comfortable enough to go and ask them!

Local attractions

Most holidaymakers who come to this smashing part of Wales do so for the Cardigan Bay coast and New Quay, famous for its bottlenose dolphins and the Ceredigion Coast Path with beach, cliff, bay and seaside village landscapes.

Start off at New Quay’s Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre to immerse yourself in facts about the area and to sort boat trips into the bay to see the seals, dolphins and porpoises visible here; guaranteed sightings are along the other direction of the coast at the island nature reserve Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park (where you’ll also see a wallaby and a few Vietnamese pigs).

Hiking and biking are also the order of the day around here: as well as the coast path, Ceredigion has an extensive network of walking and cycling paths for all abilities. From Lampeter, a cycle path goes coastwards through the Aeron Valley to the seaside town of Aberaeron; stop off en-route for a look at the riverside eighteenth century mansion Llanerchaeron, now managed by the National Trust.

There are woodland routes around Lampeter for walkers and horse riders, with more through south Ceredigion to rhyd around Rhydlewis, and canters/strolls along the Nant Seilo valley south of Penrhyncoch.

Blue Flag beaches such as Mwnt, Llangranog and Penbryn abound along the west Wales coast, with more watersports, fishing and many more active options to hand at the two national parks within an hour’s drive: Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire Coast.

Head for the River Teifi and the Teifi Valley for canoeing and fishing respectively, and try Brechfa Forest for off-road cycling for all abilities.

Or trip to one of west Wales’s well-known visitor attractions: any mini podder in your party will have fun at award-winning Folly Farm about an hour away in Pembrokeshire, and panning out the options at Dolaucothi Gold Mines. We have a sneaking suspicion they’ll be up for a day of white knuckle rides at Narbeth’s Oakwood Theme Park or having a stonkosaurus time at Tenby’s Dinosaur Park too…

As with the rest of Wales, this corner of the country is packed with historic highlights from castles to country houses to Iron Age forts; if you like your historic trips steamy, try the Gwili Railway near Carmarthen or the Teifi Valley Railway in Henllan near Newcastle Emlyn.
