City breaks are fab. Beach hols are fab too. So it surely follows that combining a bit of both with a south Wales stay at The Vale Park Hotel and Touring Site must be doubly fab. For your urban wanderings, it’s a 10-mile jaunt into Cardiff, where there’s heaps of stuff to keep you occupied for many a day on end: shops, museums, nightlife, the castle and rugby matches should get you off to a good start. One city aspect you’ll not need to experience is the search for a parking space, for there’s a handy bus that runs from a bus stop a few metres down the road from the site to the city centre. Time to make a break for the beach? It’s a mere 10 minutes’ drive to get to Barry Island for days of sandcastle building, fish and chip scoffing and family-friendly hours at the amusement arcades or Barry Island Pleasure Beach. And if it’s more exotic beaches you had in mind, you’re only 10 minutes’ walk from Cardiff Airport should the mood take you to leap on a flight somewhere more far-flung. Scoop up supermarket supplies while you’re in Barry and you’re welcome to stoke the coals of a barbecue back at base. Please note that the pitches here are next to a main road that may be busy.

Dogs are allowed on the site but not even into the hotel reception owner was a tad over the top when I went to reception with dog to ask something

Disliked entrance completely overgrown and scratched the roof of my camper and broke off the left side light on the roof.. its just a field behind a very run down hotel..

Liked The site is in a great location, the showers were hot and clean , the pitch we had was big ( right at the top near the tyre swing). The man/owner is the nicest most accommodating warden we have ever came across and we have travelled for years all over the UK, France and Spain. While we stayed we visited Barry island which was lovely, so clean, we also visited Cardiff bay again That was really nice and we went to the Glenmorgan vale country show which was fantastic. I've already recommended this site to family and we would definitely return

Disliked This campsite is a disgrace!We went there because a nearby bus was advertised but it doesn’t existe; the response we got was « take a taxi »
There is no wifi in the campsite
The sanitary facilitied are dilapidated and dirty, the latches don’t close. Who approved this establishment ? It is more expensive than other campsite too

Liked Freundliche Dame am Empfang, hat nur leider nicht weiter geholfen.

Disliked Platz entspricht nicht der Beschreibung:
Keine direkte Busanbindung
Strandbilder sind irreführend

Sehr laut, da der Platz zwischen 2 Straßen gelegen ist. Als es an der Straße einen Stau gab, war es für kurze Zeit ruhig.

Wenn man die Adresse bei Google Maps eingibt, kommt man am anderen Ende des Cardiff Airport heraus

Wir haben versucht die Buchung zu stornieren. Die freundliche Dame am Empfang hat uns an Sharon weiter verwiesen. Von Sharon gab es auf die Anfrage zur Stornierung leider keine Antwort.

The beach at Barry Island is a smashing sandy stretch that’s fab for families, with its sheltered shallow waters, numerous cafés and amusements to play with; it also welcomes dogs in certain areas. If you’re looking for something a little different, head half an hour along the coast to Southerndown for surf schools, or to Ogmore-by-Sea to ride horses along the sand. Cardiff’s a cracking city to visit, too – on top of a generous range of shops, restaurants and the like, the Welsh capital is also home to all manner of leisure facilities including an ice rink, go-kart track and whitewater rafting centre. If you’re after something a bit more cultural there are always shows to take in at the Wales Millennium Centre, and visits to Cardiff Castle and the excellent (and free) indoor/outdoor exhibits at St Fagans National Museum of History. There are three golf courses within a 10-minute drive, a designer outlet village half an hour away and a bunch more castles to saunter around (Fonmon Castle, five minutes away, is always good for a foray).
