What customers say
This is a highly-rated adults-only campsite, praised for its amazing location close to beaches and coastal paths, offering stunning views and sunsets. Visitors highlight the friendly and helpful staff, great atmosphere, and excellent live music and food vendors. Facilities are generally considered clean, with popular compost toilets and cold showers. Minor criticisms include long waits for food/drinks, the cost of cocktails, and occasional security issues. Some would prefer hot showers and more vendors to manage demand.

Great location and campsite, more vendors needed to cope with demand
Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch
Liked Excellent field, plenty of space to camp, no noise by 11.30 so got good sleep, location is amazing, 5 minutes from Rhosneiger and other lovely beaches
Disliked Long wait times on food vans, drinks and morning coffee's (over an hour). Just needed more options to cope with the large demand. Cold showers were fine but hot would have been preferred

From the manager: Hello and thank you for taking the time to reflect and write us a review. We appreciate your feedback.
So happy to hear you had a lovely time and got a great sleep. We do pride ourselves in capping our capacity to ensure that guests have that roomy feel when camping. The views are outstanding and we are super happy to hear you enjoyed them
In terms of the food vans and bar etc with waiting times. Thank you for your feedback regarding this. The demand for each changes every week, depending if guests bring their own food or not. Being a campsite in which people bring their own food and drink we have to take this into consideration with the number of vendors at the site.
The bar team work very very hard in ensuring wait times are not too long, similar to that of a busy club or festival, and given that our cocktails are extremely popular, they do take a little longer to make than the standard spirit and mix or pouring a pint. But apologies if your wait time disrupted your evening.
With the coffee our sincere apologies that you had such a long wait. We have never had a wait time before of over an hour. In terms of meeting the demand of the coffee, which is a new venture for us this season and it only really being popular in the past few weeks, we have now purchased more equipment to meet demand which we are excited to trial this weekend coming. At Camp Bongo we pride ourselves on guest and team feedback and do our upmost to make the relevant changes where needed.
In terms of the cold water showers, being a pop up campsite and not being allowed the structural requirements to install plumbing, hot water showers at this moment is not yet possible. We are however looking at ways to provide hot water without structural changes that pop up campsites are just not allowed.
We hope to welcome you back to Camp Bongo in the future and thank you again for your feedback

From the manager: Hello,
Thank you for your review and for taking the time to share your thoughts.
We’re so pleased to hear you enjoyed your time at Camp Bongo, particularly the entertainment, food, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere created by our team. They work incredibly hard to deliver a unique and memorable experience, and your kind words will mean a lot to them.
Regarding your comments about the composting toilets — we understand that they can be unfamiliar to some guests, especially those more accustomed to traditional plumbed-in facilities. However, as a pop-up campsite with a focus on sustainability and minimal environmental impact, composting toilets are the most responsible and viable option for us. They’re also a significant upgrade from the standard chemical porta-loos you’d typically find at large events or festivals.
Our team maintains the toilets with care — they’re cleaned frequently, stocked regularly, and topped up with sawdust throughout the day. The sawdust plays a key role in minimizing odours and aiding the composting process. We do provide clear instructions on how to use them, but unfortunately, when guests don’t follow these steps (such as skipping the sawdust "flush"), it can lead to occasional issues — which seems to have been the case during your visit. For that, we sincerely apologize.
We're continuously looking for ways to improve guest comfort, including exploring non-invasive ways to offer hot water facilities within the limits of our site’s infrastructure. We also encourage all guests to come speak to us directly if something isn’t right — we’re always here to help and quick to respond.
Thanks again for your feedback. We’re glad you had a great experience overall, and we hope to welcome you back to Camp Bongo in the future.
Warm regards,
The Camp Bongo Team

From the manager: Hi there,
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review — we’re really pleased to hear you enjoyed your experience at Camp Bongo.
It’s great to know the adults-only setting, peaceful quiet time, and our much-loved morning pastries all helped make your stay memorable. We’ve designed Camp Bongo to be a place where guests can truly relax and unwind, so it’s lovely to hear that those aspects stood out for you.
Regarding your comments about the composting toilets — we completely understand that they’re a different experience to standard plumbed-in facilities. As a temporary, off-grid site, compost loos are the most sustainable and practical solution available to us. We also find they provide a cleaner, more environmentally friendly alternative to the typical plastic porta-loos used at many festivals and events.
Our team takes great pride in maintaining the toilets to a high standard — they’re cleaned and checked regularly, and we provide clear instructions to help guests feel confident using them. We know this can be a new concept for some, and we always appreciate feedback that helps us improve.
We’re also actively working on ways to enhance guest comfort even further, including exploring non-intrusive solutions for hot water — all while respecting the natural landscape we operate on.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Camp Bongo in the future.
Best wishes

From the manager: Hi there,
Thank you so much for your lovely review! We're thrilled to hear you had an amazing time at Camp Bongo and that you enjoyed the peaceful beach nearby — it’s definitely one of our favourite local gems.
It’s great to know the on-site facilities, live music, and food trucks helped create the fun and social atmosphere we aim for. We put a lot of thought into building a space where people can unwind, connect, and enjoy the little things — so it means a lot to hear that came through in your experience.
We hope to welcome you back again soon for more beachside chill, good vibes, and tasty bites!
Warm regards,

Liked Great vibe, good location to the beach, the staffs are so helpful and friendly. Huge field so I didn’t feel crammed even there were so many campers. The band was nice too.
Disliked The toilet was a little high as I’m small I struggled a bit. Toilet papers were out after the night. Washing area is limited for all these campers.

From the manager: Hello,
Thanks so much for your lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the vibe, the beachside location, the live music, and the spacious layout — and we’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to our team, who always go the extra mile to help.
We really appreciate your feedback on the facilities. The toilets are composting units, and while they’re eco-friendly, we know they’re not always one-size-fits-all. We are in the process of installing urinals which will definitely help.
Our team checks and restocks the toilets every 2–3 hours — if toilet roll runs out, it’s usually just before a scheduled clean, or in this case possibly during the night especially with this weekend being unexpectedly our busiest weekend we have ever had. We will definitely take your feedback onboard and look into providing more loo rolls for during the night.
Thank you again for your helpful comments, and we hope to welcome you back for an even better stay next time!
Warm regards,
The Camp Bongo Team
A perfect pitch with great facilities, great vibes and lots of space!

Liked The staff on site were so kind and friendly. The vibes were amazing, on the evening the live music, cocktail van and pizza van were perfect. The views to watch the sunset was the icing on the cake.
The toilets were clean and didn’t really smell too much. Only downside was in the morning, there was no loo roll but I found the box behind them with loads in to restock. The cold water showers were freezing but perfect after spending all day in the sun on the beach.
The beach was a 5 minute walk down the track and just down the main road. Didn’t have toilets but did have a tin van selling drinks and ice creams. We did the kayaking on the beach too!

From the manager: Hey Ashlee,
Thanks so much for your review and for joining us at Camp Bongo! We're really glad to hear you had a good time overall and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.
We’re sorry to hear about the toilet roll issue — we completely understand how that can be frustrating. Just to clarify, our toilet facilities are cleaned and checked every 2 to 3 hours throughout the day, with the team starting 8:30 am to clean and restock. If there was a shortage, it likely happened just before a scheduled clean, and we do our best to stay on top of it, especially during busy periods.
This particular weekend was the busiest we've ever had at Camp Bongo, and while we're thrilled so many people came to enjoy the space, it definitely put extra pressure on facilities. We’re already making plans to scale up support during peak weekends going forward and scale down the number or pitches.
Thank you again for your feedback — it helps us improve, and we hope to welcome you back soon for an even smoother experience!
Warm wishes,
The Camp Bongo Team
Friendly staff, Essential facilities, close beach, stunning views.

Liked We loved that there was a late check-in, as we travelled straight from work to Camp Bongo. Upon arrival we were greeted by the most friendly and informative staff. We were told the site rules, given wrist bands and all relative info was given. We couldn't believe the upbeat and friendly vibe of the whole campsite, it was quite refreshing, like a little community. There were 2 food vans outside catering for us and live music in the barn with a bar if you wished to go join in for a dance. Loved the idea of compost toilet facilities, very good for the environment, and there were plenty of toilets around the perimeter of the field. There are cold showers and washing facilities for dishes and drinking water taps on site too. No matter where you pitched, you were in for a treat with the stunning views of the bay........ Absolutely perfect for chilling with your favourite tipple while watching the sunset! The beach is a short 5 minute walk, nothing too strenuous at all (even carrying our paddleboard down was easy enough). The beach itself was beautiful, we didn't see any litter or dog poop neither. There is a spar shop down the road (about a 3-5 minute drive if that), perfect for your bare essentials for camping.
At night on the campsite, everyone was enjoying doing there own things and some were heading over to the barn for the live entertainment. It was quite funny watching tipsy people playing campsite games and falling over 😆 🤣 but it was all in good fun! Dogs are allowed on site too, with on lead and obviously pick up poop rules. Majority of folks stuck to those rules, but the odd pooch did go AWOL 😆 it was like watching a Benny Hill sketch sometimes...... with owner chasing said pooch, who thought it was one huge "catch me if you can" game. It happens on any campsite, so no bad marks for Camp Bongo. The particular weekend we stayed over, was scorching weather, and so no Camp fires were allowed (and rightly so! It's just common sense). Quiet time started from 11pm (i think)...... 99% of the Camp stuck to those rules and it was extremely peaceful! You get the odd group of folks who want to keep partying, but the Camp Bongo staff were amazing with dealing with those who were too noisy after quiet time started.
Overall, we had an amazing stay and will most definitely love to stay again in the near future!
Disliked Would've preferred a bit more spacing between pitches, but also understand that it's such a beautiful site, that it would be a shame to let so many people down who would like to stay.
That particular weekend we stayed, there were 2 separate groups of people who wanted to carry on partying till after quiet time. That being said, it was no fault at all of Camp Bongo, as they did their best with telling them to calm down and quiet down. The staff stayed up late to make sure that both groups went quiet. But, no matter what campsite you go to, you always get the odd rule breakers....... again, can't fault Camp Bongo staff, they were amazing!
We had a small hiccup one morning. We decided to go to the beach early (before check-in time). There is a seperate entrance and a seperate exit. You can exit the Camp whenever you like. But, when we came back to Camp before check-in time, we realised that the entrance gate was locked. We weren't sure if we'd missed any info regarding this, however, a member of staff did kindly let us in.
