Yurt (waterside)

Liked I came to Tr'y Felin for a peaceful retreat by the sea. It was the most perfect place to get away from the hussle and bussle of daily life and just be in nature. I stayed in the little yurt which was beautifully crafted and cosy, even on a rainy day. The bed was sooo comfy and I slept well to the sound of the sea. The relatively remote location meant that you can see the Milky Way at night and in the evening it was wonderful to have an outdoor fire with logs provided. The location was spectacular; right by the sea with all its wildlife and amazing coastal walks. I saw terns, a little egret and nearby there are choughs and wild ponies. Other people told me they had seen dolphins and seals so next time I really want to charter the boat that launches from the site to explore the sea some more. To top it all off, Meg and Bob really went above and beyond to be the most welcoming and helpful hosts. They have excellent local knowledge and I felt welcomed like a friend from the moment I got there. Just perfect, thank you so much. I am counting down the days to come back!

Disliked Nothing, except not being able to stay longer!

Ready tent (four person)

Liked I paid for the ready set up tent pitch. Wonderful views, the campsite was nice, clean, access to the beach, rocky, sandy, saw dolphins on one evening, the owners are very friendly. Kitchen area good, shower area good with warm water, eco friendly for recycling all waste, car parking on the field. Overall I enjoyed my stay, it was very relaxing.

Disliked Hated the compost toilets, no air vent in the female toilets, very cramped, not nice at all. So for this reason I will not be visiting the campsite again.

Credit for the owners who work very hard to maintain and ensure the shared facilities are clean..

Ready tent (four person)

Liked We had a great stay! The facilities were immaculate and well-maintained. There is a compost toilet – we saw some people weren’t keen on it, but honestly, it didn’t bother us at all. The shower was excellent. The whole site is clearly well looked after by Bob, who does a fantastic job. The location is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views of the sea and surrounding woodland. We even saw little bats flying around in the evening – such a magical touch! Would definitely return.

Disliked I can't think of anything.

Non-electric grass and earth campervan pitch

Liked Stunning location with access to the sea. Pitch was overlooking nearby beach. Spotted dolphins in the bay. Great owner was very helpful. A fire pit and kindling & logs available for £10.

Disliked The toilet facilities were very basic. The urinal was a hay bale and the loos (two) are composting involving spreading sawdust. The single shower was handheld and ran cold very quickly. When we attended there were signs asking for water to be used sparingly. Very remote so no walkable pubs or amenities.

From the manager: Thank you very much for your great review & your feedback; it is all much appreciated. We do our very best to arrange for dolphins & bats to display for our guests, and am glad you appreciate our efforts!! ; )
Our toilet & washing facilities are as advertised. This is a temporary pop up campsite with simple eco-friendly facilities & waterless compost toilets, which we do our best to keep very clean & tidy. We like to keep things simple, and find that most people who enjoy wild camping also like wild wees.
Most of our guests have commented that our compost toilets are absolutely fine & they don't bother them at all, even if it's been a new experience for them. If flushing toilets are important to you, it is simply best to stay at a campsite that has flushing toilets. Simples.
The shower isn't hand held & has been reliably hot. Again if anyone has an issue with any of the facilities it is much better to let us know when on site so we can do something about it straight away.
The site is indeed rural & quiet, on the edge of a little village, a perfect place to get away from it all, but there is a National Trust house & garden & two cafes within 500m walk & a third cafe/ bookable seafood restaurant about a mile up the hill. Not too bad for a very remote campsite!
Take care & all the best, Bob & Meg
