Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Big pitch, nice bar & shop, staff super friendly and helpful. Beach 5 min walk and sunsets amazing.

Disliked: Can only enter the site approaching from the south (from Towyn) due to tight entrance so a bit of reversing required if coming the other way (from Fairbourne direction) Other than that nothing really - perhaps stick a mirror up in the gents shower block.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Nice small field, next to the beach and railway. We had a lovely walk across the beach.Really friendly staff. Lovely shop and cafe. Nice clean showers and toilets. Good cleaning facilities. Gorgeous views and sunset!

Disliked: We did find it funny but the farms dog roams around and she sneaked in my tent and stole food out my cooler box a few times. Keep your tent zipped up haha!

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: The new Hendre Hall bar/ coffee shop was a great extra and the animals around the pitches were lovely to see.

Disliked: There were only two showers In total and 1 toilet for each sex. This is not enough for the number of guests. The train is literally next to the site and the last train was about 10pm and the early in the morning. It was noisy. Too many pitches too close to one another.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Fantastic little site. Everything was clean and well maintained. Good sized pitches with lots of room for our campervan and a seating area around this. Close to train station with good links to nearby towns. The train passes close by the site but was not an issue at all...we hardly notice them. Less thank 5 minutes walk to a lovely beach! Loved the farm animals! Lovely bar and farm shop too! Everyone on site was incredibly friendly and helpful...our van did not start when we went to leave and they could not have done more to help us get it started! Great place for adults, children and dogs!!

Disliked: Only thing I would say is that there could have been more toilets, or even making the toilets unisex because they are confined to one toilet and not in a block.

Local attractions

When you set down here, ready your swimming gear, as Bala Lake (40 minutes’ drive) is a fine setting for sailing, wild swimming and canoeing or hiking the hills on all sides. The kit will come in handy for exploring the Barmouth (30 minutes) seafront by paddleboard, too, or windsurfing and kitesurfing in Aberdyfi (20 minutes). If more active pursuits are what you like your holidays chock-full with, Dolgellau (20 minutes) is a good point of departure for hikes, mountain biking or climbing crags. More beach paddles, perhaps, in Tywyn (15 minutes), followed by a traditional butter bun? Perhaps your preferred way of taking in views is from a cosy seat on an old steam train, such as the Fairbourne Railway (five minutes). It’s one of several historical places you might want to seek out – others include the Dyffryn Ardudwy burial chamber (40 minutes) and the Italian-style Portmeirion (50 minutes) village. Plas Brondanw Gardens (50 minutes) was designed by the same architect that created Portmeirion.
