Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The place is really lovely. The lady greeting us was very nice. The site has a lot of green area and plenty of space between pitches, so it does not feel overcrowded.
There is a pretty good wifi (drops down in the evening when everyone is back, but that’s understandable).

Disliked Although the bathrooms are really nice and newly refurbished, there is no space to put your shower gel or toothbrush in the shower. There are 3 hooks in each shower cubicle , which is very useful for the clothes and towels, but your toothbrush will have to go on the floor. And it’s a shame as a simple shower shelf from Ikea would only cost around 5 quid and make life much easier.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Very well maintained site, fantastic clean and modern facilities, generous pitch, beautiful scenery, friendly staff, peaceful site.

Disliked Cannot just turn shower on, you keep having to press to activate which was awkward with a 3 year old but I get why they do it. Narrow access roads would be troublesome if you came across another caravan/motorhome/tractor, although we were fine but something to be aware of. Not much to do for young children, would definitely visit again without the children though as there’s some stunning scenery to be explored on foot

Fully-serviced hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Lovely location but you will need your own transport to get around

Disliked The loud lady shouting at children early morning leading to some campers leaving early that morning. Campers should have some respect for other campers. The children were not the problem, it was their mother shouting and bawling.

Liked Space. Good size pitches and not closed in on all sides with bushes. Plenty of space for kids to play,to cook and to enjoy the beautiful views. Quiet. Fab clean toilets and showers. Really well maintained site and friendly. Bbqs allowed off the grass. Loved it,thank you for your hospitality 😃 plus I asked for our pitches together and they kindly sorted it out.

Route directions

Using a satnav is not recommended, as they often take you through narrow country lanes. From Abergele town centre, head west towards Llanddulas. At the end of the castle wall, turn left for Rhyd-y-Foel. Go through the village, then take the second lane on the left, signposted for the site. The park entrance is the first turning on the left.

Local attractions

Can't wait for the coast? It's 10 minutes' drive to Abergele’s beach or 15 to get to the sandy stretch at Colwyn Bay. If you like a bit of activity while you're there, there’s a seafront cycle path in Abergele, or you could tackle one of the great walks around the Great Orme headland in Llandudno (20 minutes). A cable car and tramway head to the summit if your legs don't fancy the hike. A short way back from the coast (20 minutes’ drive) is the place to meet all manner of animals at the Welsh Mountain Zoo; a similar length of drive should get you to the National Trust-owned Bodnant Garden to stroll through 80 acres of plants gathered from around the world. If it's castles you're after, tick several off your list with visits to Bodelwyddan (15 minutes), Rhuddlan (20 minutes), Conwy (20 minutes) and Caernarfon (45 minutes). Snowdonia National Park's a splendid place for a day or few too – head to Llanrwst (half an hour) or Betws-y-Coed (35 minutes) for walks, Gwydir Forest Park (50 minutes) for mountain biking or Adventure Parc Snowdonia (half an hour) for gorge walking, paddleboarding and a surfing lake.
