What customers say

This tranquil, back-to-basics campsite is set in an amazing rural position at the foot of the Black Mountains, next to a babbling brook. Visitors highlight the abundant space, peaceful atmosphere, and idyllic, unspoiled surroundings, making it ideal for dogs and relaxation. The friendly and helpful owner, Martin, is frequently praised. Facilities are basic, including fresh water and chemical disposal, with electric hook-up available in specific fields. While some note the lack of phone signal, most find it adds to the charm. Most guests had no dislikes and expressed a strong desire to return.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked We absolutely loved our stay here! It had a real wild camping feel - peaceful, natural, and set right next to a little brook on a beautiful flat pitch. The section we stayed in didn’t have electric, but there was easy access to fresh water and a chemical disposal point, which worked perfectly for us. The whole place has a relaxed, friendly approach that made us feel really welcome. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Local attractions

The walking possibilities around here are many and varied, ranging from gentle circular walks that stop at the pub for all-important rehydration to uphill clambers at Pen y Fan – the highest peak in south Wales is about a 40-minute drive from the site. If you fancy a different way to get out and about, check out the local canoe hire place and the activity centre that’s got options for caving, rafting, paddleboarding and other outdoor antics – both places are about five minutes’ drive away. Llangorse Lake (20 minutes’ drive) is another fine pick for a day out whether you’re after walks or watersports. Time for something less energetic? Perhaps head to Hay-on-Wye (10 minutes) to see the castle and poke your nose into all the bookshops, or make a break for Brecon (20 minutes) for a march around the regimental museum. Also within a half-hour drive are pretty Crickhowell and the flower-flanked pathways of Brobury House Gardens.
