  • Small campsite with views of the Preseli Hills in rural Ceredigion
  • A 15-minute drive to Cardigan, with several beaches 20 minutes away
  • Working farm site with a communal kitchen; shops and pubs close by
A small and friendly wild campsite on a working farm, Capel Tygwydd Camping and Caravans has truly spectacular views across the Preseli Hills. Families, dogs and kids – all are welcome at owner Farmer Gordon’s rural site in Ceredigion, with horses and cattle grazing peacefully in neighbouring fields (plus some donkeys who are particularly friendly if you happen to approach with carrots in hand…). With plenty of room up on that hilltop, you’ll never feel crowded, and with no defined pitches, you can pick a spot that works for you. There's parking by your pitch, so you have no need to lug stuff across fields, and there’s a wifi connection too, so you can keep in touch with folks back home. Simple on-site amenities include a shower and loo block, plus washing-up facilities and a no-frills communal kitchen decked out with a fridge and microwave, where you can rustle up snacks and hot drinks. Pick up bits and pieces in Newcastle Emlyn (five minutes’ drive) or head off to Cardigan (15 minutes) for a bigger choice of shops. And while you’re there, stop a while to explore the Norman castle, have a stroll along the Teifi river and sink a pint in a pub – there are handy takeaways as well, serving pizzas, tacos or curries for a treat back at the camping field. The site is a 40-minute walk from the Cenarth Falls beauty spot, and you can keep travelling mutts happy with walks and splashes at dog-friendly Aberporth or Poppit Sands beaches, both less than half an hour away.

What customers say

Guests praised the very friendly and welcoming owner, Farmer Gordon, and the clean, well-stocked facilities including hot showers. The site's quiet, rural location with lovely views and lively farm animals was a highlight. Pitches were described as excellent size. The internet was not working for one guest, and a pitch was noted as being on a slight slope, but these did not detract significantly from an overall excellent and highly recommended stay.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked The showers had hot water plus one had a seat and hooks for your belongings. The toilets were clean and well stocked with toilet paper, hand soap and dryers. There was a great indoor area for pot cleaning. Farmer Gordon was friendly and helpful. Loved seeing the donkeys, goats, horses and red kites.

Disliked The pitch was on a slight slope, but not too bad.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked You felt as if you had know Farmer Gordon for a number of years rather than a short time. He was very welcoming and we enjoyed having conversations with him. The views were lovely and the site was very quiet. If we are in the area again we would definitely chose this site to stay at.
