Local attractions

To taste some local specialities, take the tour of the dairy at Caws Teifi Cheese, or stop off at Dà Mhìle Distillery (both 10 minutes’ drive), where one of the world’s first organic whiskies is distilled. Ceredigion honey is available to buy from New Quay Honey Farm (15 minutes), where you can also watch the bees going busily about their business. Those intrigued by engineering can drop by the Internal Fire Museum of Power (15 minutes) to admire the oldest working diesel engine in the world, while the National Wool Museum (20 minutes) has a display of gorgeous textiles and hands-on weaving activities for families. More local crafts are produced at Moriath Glass (25 minutes), where you can pick up colourful artisan jewellery and bespoke bowls. If you've brought the kids along, treat them to a day of animal adventure at Fantasy Farm Park (half an hour), where they can meet cuddly ponies and friendly ferrets, or bottle feed lambs in spring. If you hit a rainy day, cart younger kids along to The Moody Calf Play Barn (15 minutes) for a romp around the soft-play area while you sneak in a tasty afternoon tea.
