  • Well-maintained family-friendly site just off the A487 at Llanon
  • A 10-minute drive to Aberaeron and 25 minutes to Aberystwyth
  • A short walk to a shingle beach and the Ceredigion Coast Path
What a gorgeous location for a break close to the Ceredigion coast. Family-run Woodlands Holiday Park is in a very handy spot just off the A487 (the main road running along the west coast of Wales) and about half a mile from Llanon village centre (home to a pub, a butcher, a convenience store, a fish and chip shop and bus stops for jaunts by public transport). And that’s just the practical side of things, because this lovely location is also just a few minutes’ walk from the coast for a shingle beach and access to the Ceredigion Coast Path. There are lots more walks to be had in the surrounding area as well, and plenty more excellent coastal spots to explore – Aberaeron (10 minutes’ drive) and Aberystwyth (25 minutes) are a couple of the top picks, along with New Quay (20 minutes), where you can catch a boat for a dolphin-spotting trip. So that’s the location, but what about the park? Well, it’s a well-maintained and peaceful place with a good list of useful facilities including a launderette, a washing-up area and bathrooms with toilets and showers. Dogs and kids are both welcome, and guests are allowed to bring along a barbecue for a bit of alfresco cookery.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Really clean and quiet location.

Disliked Signal was non existent in places but I guess that would depend on the carrier your with but EE I really struggled to get signal but it’s great when you wish to disconnect from the rest of the world

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for your review. EE signal is not too good on the touring field but is better at the park entrance (if it helps). The best network with good signal all around the park is Vodafone.
Hope to see you again.

Would use again.

Liked Größe des Platzes

Disliked WLAN ist kostenpflichtig und teuer. Es fiel häufig aus. Die Sanitäranlagen sind in die Jahre gekommen und wurden unzureichend gereinigt.

From the manager: We did have some wifi issues at the time of your stay due to a power cut and this was fixed. A full fibre upgrade order has been ongoing since March 2026, unfortunately we are still waiting for BT to sort this as cables need to be laid so its a slow process.
I am not sure what issues you had with the facilities as you didnt mention this during your stay!

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful big trees, birds and hearing the waves late at night was nice nature to be surrounded by. The village with the shop and pub were great. I think this is just the right base for those with their own vehicle to go to and fro and to nearby towns and beaches.

Disliked The tent pitch is the furthest point to the toilets which for me was a too long walk, about 20mins to go there and back for a wee. With posters from 2024 in the ladies and a plethora of dead or decaying bugs all around the inside of the laundry room, it could certainly do with a clean and tidy up. A neighbouring campervan letting their dog pee and poo around my tent and on my camping chair was a disgusting extra, along with the gross smell of the fresh muck spreading at the nearby farm.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: The small tent pitches without electric hook up are available for backpackers and are located at the top of the touring field offering privacy, peace and quiet. These pitches are the furthest away from the facilities, so are best suited to those who don't mind a stroll along the tarmac road for a shower. If this is a problem we advise campers to book a pitch with electric hook up further down the touring field or bring a portable camping toilet for convenience. Yes, there is a neighbouring farm on the other side of the river but we are in the countryside! We have had no other complaints regarding farm smells, so assume this was a one off and the wind must have been blowing in a different direction?
All dog owners are aware they should clean up after their dogs. Unfortunately you did not mention this during your stay otherwise we would have been able to speak to the people concerned. If we don't know, we can't do anything about it!

Local attractions

After visiting the beach and the independent shops of the harbour town of Aberaeron (10 minutes’ drive), head inland to National Trust - Llanerchaeron (20 minutes). Designed by John Nash (of Brighton’s Royal Pavilion fame), this Georgian villa includes a walled kitchen garden whose organically grown produce is for sale in the reception area. In Aberystwyth (25 minutes), take a long stroll from South Beach, past the promontory topped by the ruins of Castell Aberystwyth, to the Pier, which has an arcade, miniature bowling and private karaoke booths, plus plenty of benches to watch the sunset while eating fish and chips. Alternatively, catch the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway to the top of Constitution Hill for wide-ranging coastal views. Open from April to September, Cae Hir Gardens (25 minutes) is a dog-friendly spot with colourful wildflower meadows and log piles attracting bees and other insects. There’s also a nursery and a tea room serving home-baked goods.
