Parking and outside space

  • Luxury glamping lodges with Annandale views in Dumfries and Galloway
  • Robert Burns House: 20 minutes’ drive; Drumlanrig Castle 40 minutes
  • Private covered hot tub and communal firepit on a dark-skies site
With some really rather spectacular and far-reaching Annandale views, Laird Lodges provide luxurious hillside retreats on a working family farm in Dumfries and Galloway. Easy to access from the M74, the site is also within speedy reach of Dumfries (both 15 minutes’ drive) for shops and dining options. But back to those lodges. Handmade by local craftsmen, with fixtures and fittings sourced locally or regionally throughout, the lodges each sleep up to four people on double beds (hotel-quality bedding, towels, bathrobes and slippers come as part of the deal) and king-size sofa beds. Ensuite shower rooms and country-style kitchenettes with Belfast sinks, coffee makers and microwave ovens add to luxury, while Smart TVs take care of any downtime. At this point, please note that there’s no wifi, but a very strong 4G signal across the site. Outside, each lodge has its own private, covered hot tub and a spacious (and the owners have qualifications to ensure hot tub safety), decked outdoor dining area with double swing seats. You can get together with friends around the communal firepit, and hopefully there will be a clear night for spying on the stars in this dark-skies area. Breakfast packs showcasing local produce are available to buy on request, and carry-out meals can be delivered from local pubs and restaurants.

Lodge (hot tub)

Liked This is by far the best lodge we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The lodges are high quality luxury builds with everything that you need to enjoy a peaceful break. The location is on a working farm but you never hear any noises apart from the sound of the birds and the highland cows. The location is fantastic. Nestled on the top of a hill which commands a beautiful peaceful view which you can easily see 20 miles in all directions. The hosts Angie and her husband Andrew are so nice and helpful they were on hand should you require any assistance. They provided excellent advice on places to go and some knowledge about the local.area.

Lodge (hot tub)

Liked The pod was stunning, and everything you needed was thought of. Fridge, microwave, air fryer, and hob all there. Beautiful shower, and it was so hot. Comfortable bed, very spacious and comfy sitting area. The hot tub was brilliant and a good selection of outdoor furniture to use. Beautiful views and best view of Toast and Butter the Highland Coos. Hosts are so friendly, and the farm is fantastic. There is No WiFi but good 4G

Lodge (hot tub)

Liked Warm welcome, amazing views, clean and tidy. Good shower, comfy bed, and all the appliances we needed. Ability to cook inside, or outside with the bbq, and we also dined inside and out. Loved the swing chair.

Definitely one of the best small holiday rentals we've had. Great value for money!

Disliked Toilet placement a bit awkward, particularly for those with long legs, but I appreciate this can't be helped. Slightly limited worktop area around sink (could add a board that can be placed over the sink recess).
Bed side table space very limited due to lamps (could be resolved with wall mounted lamps, or a second shelf above or below the existing one).

Negatives are very minor, and are far outweighed by the positives!

Lodge (hot tub)

Liked The hot tub! Went down very well with all of us! Great that it's under cover meaning we didn't have to worry about the weather.
Views were stunning. Was so peaceful. Wouldn't have known anyone else was staying or that it was a working farm. Plenty to do and explore nearby.
Loved the app. Full of useful information and recommendations. Great communication with Angie from start to finish.

*no WiFi in cabins so can't rate properly however 4g was strong for everyone.

From the manager: Thank you Jennifer for your lovely comments and for choosing to stay with us at Laird Lodges. Please come back when the skies are clear and bring that telescope!!!
