  • Small, secluded and leafy tourer site on a working farm near Limerick
  • University of Limerick 15 minutes’ drive; Wild Atlantic Way 40 minutes
  • Seasonal produce, fresh eggs and honey for sale; cricket at weekends
Paying a visit to your kids at the University of Limerick but not keen to stay in the city? The tourer campsite at Crokers Farm is handily situated just 15 minutes’ drive away from the riverside campus. Well away from the buzz of the city but within easy reach, the site is set on a peaceful, tree-shaded family farm with sheep and beef cattle, vegetable and fruit gardens, and a whole host of ducks, geese and hens as well as honey bees. Separated by flowers, plants, and herbs (for your cooking) the spacious hardstanding pitches are sheltered by mature trees, and each has its own seating area with a picnic bench. Showers and a washing-up area are available on site, and there are handy communal fridges and freezers in which to store your edible goodies. You can stock up on honey and seasonal vegetables at the farm, and if you’re staying over the weekend, there are often cricket games or energetic airsoft tag games to watch or join in if you’re feeling energetic. Ballyneety (five minutes' drive away) is the local village, with a convenience store, petrol station and a pub with a beer garden and snooker table.

What customers say

This is a rustic woodland site offering a peaceful, remote atmosphere with spacious, private pitches and EHU/water. Guests appreciate the friendly, helpful host, John, and the site's proximity to Limerick. However, several reviews highlight significant concerns regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities, with some describing them as basic, unkempt, or even disgusting. While many enjoy the natural setting and value for money, others found the site to be untidy and in need of refurbishment.

Non-electric gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked There was a barrier with a code. Away from the road.

Disliked When we found the toilet block we were uncertain that they were the actual facilities as they were so disgustingly filthy and unusable. The one toilet was full of excretment and the shower had vegetation growing in it.
Just to be clear, there were no other facilities.
The general state of the site meant that we personally felt we could not stay and we left even though we had already paid.
Having now thoroughly read all the other reviews it appears that John has a standard reply of ‘glad you enjoyed your stay’ and sometimes ‘facilities will be updated in the Spring’. IMO this site should not be open at all until the facilities have been built.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Location was great, very quiet during the nights.

Not a like nor dislike but a heads-up, every saturday the airsoft team plays in the woods behind the camping, they enter trough camping grounds (not all the kids have manners) don’t be startled if you see kids walking around with guns they are fake and for training purpose only.

Disliked It wasn’t clear where the grey water dumping was. Staff kept sending us to different locations, in the end we did not find it.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review our site.yes we play airsoft every saturday but not near the parking bays.everyone are able to easily find grey water disposal at the end of roadway.hope you enjoyed the rest of your journey.

Liked Sadly we didn’t get to enjoy the area as we planned. We unfortunately got lost on our drive to campground and arrived later than expected. John was very pleasant and welcoming even though it was most likely his time to relax !

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked The man who met us seemed friendly

Disliked The toilets were absolutely disgusting
With pooh all up the back and all over the seats on all the toilets - thank god we had a campervan with a toilet. These remained in this state for the entirety of our stay and were never cleaned. Clearly used by all the other random people around the "working farm"
No hand soap
A grotty towel
The pitches were a mess and full.of litter
Overgrown and the benches were not usable as so old and filthy

There were random men walking around the site - assume something to do with the other buildings.
Didn't feel safe at all.

Electric hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Peaceful countryside vibe but also a very short drive into Limerick city.
Safe and secure feel.
Spacious pitches for even the biggest motorhomes.
Beautiful woodland setting with lots of native trees and wildlife.
Plenty of place for dog walking.

It just felt good to be there... a little different from the usual campsite experience!

Local attractions

On the banks of the River Shannon, Limerick (15 minutes’ drive) is a hive of activity, packed with shops, galleries and museums. If you’re visiting to see your student offspring, there’s a whole heap of bars, pubs and restaurants just right for treating them to a meal out. You can also catch rugby games or book guided tours at Thomond Park (25 minutes), or go flat and jump racing at Limerick Racecourse (15 minutes). Golfers can get in on the act too, with Ballyneety Golf Club a mere five minutes’ drive away, while the future Ryder Cup venue Adare Manor Golf Club is 20 minutes’ drive. For spectacular coastlines, join the Wild Atlantic Way on the Shannon estuary (40 minutes) for dramatic seascapes, towering headlands and deserted sandy beaches. The arid limestone pavements of The Burren (an hour) and the awesome Cliffs of Moher (one hour 20 minutes) are just two of the spectacular landmarks along the route. Closer to the campsite, historians should seek out Lough Gur (15 minutes) for its neolithic stone circle, enclosed by 113 standing stones.
