A lunchtime drink on the terrace of the Boathouse bar watching the white sails of the yachts zipping across the water, a hop and a skip down the leafy path to the beach for the afternoon, or a fun-filled night of live entertainment in the Showbar… there are many ways to relax at Thorness Bay Holiday Park in Cowes. Whippersnappers will love whooshing down the slide into the indoor pool before trying out a bit of snorkelling and rollerblading, and they may disappear for some time into the various kids’ clubs, which offer funtastic activities for kids up to 11. The whole family can get stuck into a range of sports on the all-weather court, and during the organised sessions you could chance your arm at archery or even learn to wield a crossbow. To complement the usual amenities, there’s a shop and laundry room, an outdoor playground for the little ones, amusements, darts and a pool table – and the occasional bingo session thrown in for fun.

Em va agradar It was cheap at least.

No em va agradar Food - We made the mistake of eating on-site one night, I had the flatbread which had half the ingredients missing, although I complained I did not get an apology, an offer or a refund or anything, the young girl just kind of scuttled off, we waited expecting that she was going to get someone but no one appeared. We had already paid so just left, we did not use it again! Showers just dribble out and are in need of an upgrade. Don't think they got cleaned them in the three days we were there as there was the same blob of toilet roll on the floor and stains remained in the toilets!!!
No WiFi on the site pitches only in the entertainment area.

Em va agradar Friendly welcome, great touring pitch. We did not use the facilities apart from the bar/restaurant as we were just having a quick stopover whilst passing through but they all looked great. Great view over the sea from the bar area!

No em va agradar Pitch not very level.
Toilet block smelt and no hot water in sink.
Our neighbours had the news on and off until 3am.
WiFi had bad signal and no 4G……

Em va agradar The campsite is nice and close to the beach. It has a nice play area for kids. The cafe offers a range of food. Theres fish and chips on site.

No em va agradar Unfortunately the facilities are dirty. There was a toilet seat on the floor in the toilets, toilets are clogged, floors flooded and littered with rubbish. The sink areas were clogged with food too. Wasps are an issue at the water sites. Problem was reported and staff said they are aware but apparently cant get the staff to fix it. The site is packed full, people were smoking weed and up until all hours of the morning. The swimming facilities are rammed full, they put up to 84 people in a small pool at one time! People drive too fast round the site. The park isn't situated close to the pitch site so you must accompany young children to ensure they are safe.

Em va agradar Site was clean, staff friendly, restaurant was good, pool was good, little shop was good.

No em va agradar The camping shower block needs attention, showers barely worked, locks on doors barely worked. The site team was really good but other guests have no respect, a shame really.

Visitors will find lots of yachts and powerboats to drool over in Cowes harbour, and the town is also home to Osborne House, the country retreat of Queen Victoria and her brood. It’s well worth a nose around this magnificent house and its lovely gardens, and the Victorian afternoon teas aren’t half bad either… Since the Isle of Wight is such a bijou island, it doesn’t take long to reach other top attractions such as Carisbrooke Castle, the posh pile where King Charles I was imprisoned, and the island’s heritage steam railway, which regularly runs themed events. For those who fancy a change from the beach at Thorness Bay, the shallow waters at Colwell Bay beach, about 25 minutes away by car, are great for swimming, as well as watersports such as jetskiing and windsurfing.
