Stay on the lakeside at Box End Park, surrounded by the scenic Bedfordshire countryside. Its flat, grassy pitches are suited to families, first-time campers and outdoor lovers (no groups are permitted). Make the most of the two spring-fed lakes, where you can fill your spare hours with activities (they must be booked separately and are not included in the pitch price): a giant aqua park, cable wakeboarding, paddleboarding and disc golf. Wild swimming is not permitted, so if you fancy a dip, book onto a lifeguarded session. On-site amenities include heated toilets, hot showers and outdoor washing-up sinks, with additional showers in the main clubhouse. When you're ready to refuel, head over to the bar and restaurant (open Tuesday to Sunday; closed Mondays). There's also a seasonal café to check out (just take note that its opening times do vary). If you'd rather flip your own food, you're welcome to have a barbecue as long as it's raised off the ground to protect the grass (fires, including firepits, are not permitted). To keep things quiet and family-friendly, no noise is permitted after 10.30pm at Box End Park, and guests are also expected to keep noise to a minimum throughout the daytime. Please also take all camping equipment and belongings home. The historic market town of Bedford is only a 15-minute drive away, with plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops to look around.

  • Està prohibit banyar-se al llac.

Vehicles

  • No es permeten les unitats de més de 8 metres de llarg.
  • No s'admeten vehicles comercials (vehicles utilitzats amb motiu de feina o per transportar mercaderies o passatgers) ni vehicles amb propaganda al càmping.
  • Electric pitches: 16.66 kWh of electricity are included per day. Further usage is metered onsite at £0.30 per kWh and is payable via a top-up card which is issued on arrival. A £5 deposit is required for the card, refundable at check-out. Activities are seasonal and do not run every day. The bar and restaurant are closed on Mondays. Sunday opening hours are 12.30pm to 3.30pm.

Em va agradar The campsite is in a beautiful, spacious location, with good-sized pitches and a generally peaceful atmosphere. However, in the mornings, you can hear the noise from cars travelling along the road behind the campsite, particularly from the camping area.

No em va agradar The mobile phone signal is quite weak, and the internet connection is also poor. Although the campsite advertised Wi-Fi, there was no Wi-Fi signal at all around the pitches during our stay.

The number of toilets and showers also seems too limited for the size of the campsite. When the site is fully occupied, I believe these facilities would be insufficient for the number of guests.

As you mentioned, depending on the direction of the wind, you can sometimes hear a little traffic from the road behind the campsite, particularly in the mornings. It can vary quite a bit depending on the weather and wind direction.

We’re sorry to hear you had difficulty with the Wi-Fi during your stay. We do offer free Wi-Fi around the campsite, which is generally suitable for WhatsApp messaging and basic use. The Wi-Fi code is included in the camping pack, and we also have a premium-speed option available for guests who need a faster or more reliable connection.

We’re also always happy to help during your stay, so if you’re having any issues with the Wi-Fi, facilities or anything else, please do let us know at the time. We’ll always do our best to help and make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

Em va agradar Great location at the water park with both the lovely Corner 5 restuarant and the Cable Cafe. Nice facilities block too, kept clean and plenty of showers.

No em va agradar Bins were overflowing but it was a busy bank holiday weekend... no shop on site but a Lidl a few mins drive away

One of the highlights at the Forest Centre and Millennium Country Park (15 minutes’ drive) is the Wetlands Nature Reserve, inhabited by shrews, otters and butterflies. A circular trail skirts the lake (with bird hides), going past woodlands and reedbeds where you might spot different birds depending on the season. Falcons, owls and eagles are among the winged residents at Herrings Green Activity Farm and Bird of Prey Centre (20 minutes). Here, in addition to witnessing flying displays (accompanied by an informative but entertaining commentary), visitors can have their picture taken with the birds. Santa Pod Raceway (35 minutes) is a racetrack with a lively programme of events: from modified and classic car shows, to what they call ‘Run What You Brung’ days, where they open the track to the general public and their cars (or bikes). The place is best known for drag racing, a thrilling acceleration contest over a short distance.
