Great locations for tennis - Cornwall from £11 per night

Jun 17 2013 Publicado por Samantha Marsh

The great British summer is upon us and it’s time to welcome back sunshine traditions such as a glass or two of Pimm’s, a dish of strawberries and cream and of course what’s arguably the home of tennis, Wimbledon.

It’s time to brush the dust off tennis racquets and let Pitchup.com guide holidaymakers through the choices of tennis-themed holidays throughout the UK, Ireland and France.

Pitchup.com offers over 500 camping, glamping and caravan sites across the UK, Ireland and France, many of which offer on-site tennis courts or are within close proximity of local courts and other fun activities.

Below is a selection of sites from Pitchup.com that offer the chance to enjoy the summer and indulge in a spot of tennis:

Calloose Caravan Park, Hayle, Cornwall:

Calloose is an award-winning family holiday park in over eight acres of Cornish countryside. The site is beautifully set in a valley near St Ives and has a collection of landscaped terraces all surrounded by a variety of wildlife and flowers.

The site offers holiday lodges, touring and camping pitches all set to exceedingly high standards.

Tennis at Calloose is on full-sized traditional tennis courts - or some guests might like to try their hand at table tennis! Other sporty facilities include crazy golf, pool, shooting games, driving games and a play park for the younger guests. There is also a shop, bar, takeaway, restaurant and launderette for all the main needs of guests.

Prices range from £10.80 per night.

Heathfield Caravan Park, North Yorkshire:

Heathfield Caravan Park near the famous spa town of Harrogate is set within a wooded valley in Upper Nidderdale in the Yorkshire Dales. This area of Yorkshire is spoilt with stunning countryside and rolling hills: what better location to enjoy a game of tennis with Yorkshire’s famous peaks and valleys within view?

Enjoy this eye-catching scenery by playing tennis, walking, biking, hiking on horseback or even leading a llama through the Nidderdale Way. Heathfield Caravan Park is family-owned, offering pitches of all sizes with or without electricity. Fresh running water is either at each pitch or a short stroll away; there is a shop on site selling essentials and two conveniently placed local pubs about half a mile away to sample some of the local beverages.

Yorkshire as always has a wealth of historical attractions to offer visitors and this particular area does not disappoint. A few of the many great attractions here include the gardens of Ripley Castle, nature trails at the twelfth century Bolton Abbey, the dungeons of Skipton Castle, the intricate designed interiors of Newby Hall and Harewood House stately homes and without fail the must-see Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, Yorkshire’s first World Heritage Site.

Prices range from £15 per night.

Orchard View Caravan and Camping Park, Lincolnshire:

This site boasts a modest six acre plot and is well known for its friendly and welcoming hosts Ray and Maria: whatever problem or question visitors may have Ray and Maria are more than happy to offer a helping hand. There is a huge dog walking field, a fantastic kids’ club with a new playing area consisting of swings and sandpits, a designated area in the clubhouse with board games and puzzles plus of course, a tennis court.

Silent types can enjoy tranquil and peaceful surroundings, whilst explorers can indulge and discover the nearby waterways.  Nearby Fenland Village is a foodie heaven offering a huge variety of great food options from restaurants to tearooms and local farm produce, fresh fruit and Lincolnshire sausages made in the local town of Spalding.

Amenities are first class and very modern. The site has a brand new shower block with free hot water.  Information on surrounding attractions can be found in the tourist information centre within the well-stocked bar.

Prices range from £11.20 per night.

Pierres Couchees, France:

Over the water in France, Pierres Couches offers a fantastic setting, with the beautiful sandy beach of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins to one side and soothing, quiet woodland to the other.

There are activities in abundance at Pierres Couchees for the kids or the young at heart: a heated outdoor pool with waterslide plus a variety of team sports such as football, basketball and tennis. There is evening entertainment for all the family, a bar, barbeque area, restaurants and takeaway.

For the more adventurous and active a short stroll to the beach just a mere 300 metres away will lead to an even more exciting range of watersports like surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing, kite buggies and catamarans. Visitors can also enjoy a bike ride, a walk and a picnic in the surrounding woodland.

The onsite information bureau has brochures about local attractions including aquariums, safari parks and museums such as Escal’Atlantique, an ocean liner museum.  There is also information about nearby attractions such as the local fishing village of Pornic.

Price range from £41 per night.
