A global icon that barely needs an introduction, Glastonbury Festival draws in more than 2,400 international artists to its 79 or so stages. But the five-night event isn’t just about the music: fans keep coming back for the immersive experiences. Gaze at enormous sculptures made from recycled rubbish at Shangri-La, try experimental takes on seaside snacks at the Glastonbury-on-Sea pier, and watch acrobats perform gravity-defying feats at the Theatre & Circus fields.
You can stay under canvas within the venue, but you’ll get a better night’s sleep – plus much easier access to clean showers and toilets – at campsites near Glastonbury. Recuperate at a farm with lush rural views, a park set within wild woodland, or the grounds of a friendly inn serving up Somerset cider.
Glamping near Glastonbury might be preferable for a little luxurious downtime. Alternatively, there are plenty of lively campsites where you can keep the festivities going.
