Station Farm: Welcome to Station Farm Camping.

General

  • Secluded site on a small, welcoming Somerset working farm
  • In the Avalon Marshes nature reserves, five miles from Glastonbury
  • Riverside wildlife haven with firepit for each pitch

What a spot for wildlife lovers… Station Farm is a small family-run Somerset farm on the edge of Shapwick Heath Nature Reserve and situated between the Ham Wall and Westhay Moor Reserves (3,700 acres of reclaimed wetland collectively known as the Avalon Marshes).

Bring your binoculars along for a stay here – you’re likely to spot all sorts of bird life (including cranes, egrets and a white-tailed eagle) around here, and there are several hides within a short walk for those who’d like to settle in for some serious spotting. If birdwatching’s not your thing, look out instead for otters or head out straight from the farm onto footpaths and bike routes across the reserves (including the Bittern Trail, which goes all the way to Glastonbury, five miles away).

Just next to the farm is a river that’s fab for kayaking, paddleboarding, wild swims and fishing (permit required). Sticking to dry land, there’s plenty of space for kids to run about and greet the farm animals (ponies, sheep, pigs and free-range poultry). Each pitch is provided with a barbecue/firepit (with logs and kindling available to buy) so you’ll also have space to keep warm once evening falls.

This is an off-grid site so it’s a good idea to bring a torch along; toilets, showers, drinking water and a covered washing-up area are a short walk from each pitch. For safety, there’s no parking on pitches but wheelbarrows are provided to help haul kit. (Parents, do be aware that there’s easy access to lakes, ditches and the river so you’ll still need to keep an eye on the kids.)

Please note

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

This was a wonderful campsite and we felt privileged to stay there. The owners were generous with their time and enthusiasm. They were great with the kids and always bringing out animals to share with them. The children enjoyed great freedom around the site and loved making friends and exploring.
We were fortunate enough to stay in the forest school area, with its fascinating array of seating options, musical instruments and superb firepit area. The covered space in the shelters was great and made our camping pretty luxurious! Plus all the apples ready to eat from the trees, and the large area that easily accommodated our large tent. Thank you so much!

What a gem!! From start to finish the experience was amazing. The facilities are superb and spotlessly clean. Both of our children (9+6 Years old) loved the animals and the fact that they could explore to their hearts content (they spent the first 20 mins of the journey home crying as they didn’t want to leave)
The middle ground field that we stayed on is massive and despite it being full (6 tents in total) there is LOADS of room and you are not overlooked/on top of each other like most other campsites!
Bethan and Karl have done an amazing job with their new venture and should be extremely proud of what they have achieved. We will definitely be rebooking again for next year.

This site is amazing, I cannot praise it highly enough. Took my daughter and nieces here for a couple of nights away, Bethan, Carl and family are so welcoming and helpful and the girls loved getting up close with the animals. The toilets/showers were spotless as was the washing up area. Great communal area with sofas, benches (and electric if you needed to charge your phone.) A great place if you love nature , walking, star-gazing and getting away from it all. Will definitely be back.
