Liked Lots of space, great shower. Communal area was comfortable, especially with all the rain we had.

Disliked Look where you are pitching, as the road is quite busy, pitches down the site are quieter.

Powered grass RV campsite
Liked Well laid out pitches.
Lovely full contained shower rooms, which were kept very clean.
Very helpful owner, who popped over to check all was well.
Disliked Only two showers/toilets, so queuing would be a problem when busy.
Grass pitches were soggy, with mole hills and hook-ups not clear, but we got moved easily to a hardstanding pitch (Owner did explain she had closed for grass pitches at this time, even though could still be booked on Pitch-up).

Liked Good size showers. Clean facilities.
Lovely site with great access to the river swale and local areas.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Disliked Lights in the toilet block at night, went off mid shower, needs longer on the PIR.
Shower cubicles need a fold-down seat or bench, as nowhere for clothes and floor is wet.

Liked Small and well laid out site by the river.
Very good facilities and lots of water taps.
Cafe and seating pods by the river are great.
Chip shop in the village was very good.
Easy access to Park and Ride for York.
Disliked Bosun’s restaurant and bar only opens from Thursday to Sunday, not good for the weekday visitors.
No food at pubs in the village on a Monday and Tuesday.
Arrival was self-service from e-mail info, missed that personal touch.

From the manager: Thank you for such a thoughtful and balanced review Sally. It’s great to hear how much you enjoyed the layout of the site, the riverside setting and the facilities - and lovely to know the café and pods added something special to your stay. The easy access to the Park & Ride and the village amenities is something many guests appreciate, so it’s good to hear that worked well for you too. Your points about the restaurant opening days and the limited food options in the village early in the week are genuinely helpful. We know this can be frustrating for weekday visitors, and feedback like yours helps us understand where expectations and availability don’t quite line up. It’s something we continue to review as the site grows. Thank you as well for mentioning the self‑service arrival. While many guests appreciate the convenience, we completely understand that some prefer a more personal welcome, and we’re looking at ways to bring a warmer touch back into the process without losing the ease of arrival. We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, and we hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back by the river again soon.

Liked The site had easy access to the town and was easy to find. Andy who greeted us was very friendly and helpful.
The pitches were tiered so nice and level.
Disliked Pitch was worn and needed some TLC.
They offer entertainment, but this was based mainly on children.
The Swimming pool, an attraction for me, was only open very limited hours and is totally closed on a Monday, so not able to use.
The Pizza box is only open a few nights and none during our 3 night stay.
The food and drinks were expensive, better to buy fish and chips over the road or take a short walk to the welcoming George Inn.
The showers were hot, but very basic. The gent’s showers had no hook on most of the doors, so no where to keep clothes dry, and the door to the ladies block, in a thoroughfare, was always open.
