The name says it all here – The Riverfront York is indeed in a gorgeous location on the banks of the River Ouse, on the edge of the North Yorkshire village of Bishopthorpe. This is a fabulous setting for many reasons – the lush greenery and river views take top billing, of course, but there’s also the fact that the centre of York is only about three miles away. Drive up to the city in about 10 minutes, cycle it in 20 minutes or (if you’re here between April and September) catch a riverbus for a particularly scenic journey to the centre. Other ways to enjoy the river include hiring motor boats or kayaks on site, or taking walks along the riverside path. And if that all sounds like too much effort, just find a quiet spot and settle down with a good book. Facilities at this site have been very nicely thought out: there’s a playground for the kids and a beauty salon where frazzled grown-ups can treat themselves to a bit of pampering. Food is easily sorted as well, with a café-bar selling breakfasts, coffees, snacks and sandwiches. Bosun, the main restaurant (open Thursday to Sunday), also has a full menu featuring local seasonal ingredients, steak specials, seafood dishes, Sunday lunches and kids’ options. The bathrooms are worth an honourable mention, too: these smart modern facilities have been stylishly decorated and kitted out with accessible stalls, as well as handy extras like hairdryers.

Toilets and shower block best I’ve ever seen on a site immaculate and modern
Never got a chance to use Bosans as was fully booked when I stayed but cafe hut provided decent options for snacks ect
Surroundings lovely

Disliked The pitch I stayed on was underneath a tree which was shaded and was a shame as most of the other pitches weren’t and had glorious sunshine on the Saturday where as we were stuck in the shade 😢 also with being under trees there was quite a bit of dropping on the awning which needed cleaning off before we left

Liked Great location.
Showers have fully closing screen doors, so no wet clothes
Cafe on site is good food with good value
Pods are a nice touch
Secure bike storage is fantastic. Not seen this elsewhere 5*
Bus and Uber to town easy.

Disliked Pitches are very close, bit cramped. We had the XXL pitch, still small.
No advise on parking. When we arrived we were the middle pitch.(24). The person on 25 had a continental door arrangement but backed in, so they opened onto our grass. As they arrived first, they assumed it was ours. Sorted next day, but some orientation advice for novices and those that don't get it would be helpful.
Not keen on the communal wash basin arrangements. Prefer some privacy for my bathroom use.

Liked Sehr schön Anlage und toll gelegen.

Disliked Leider war es bei uns sehr lange sehr laut. Wenn man dort nur auf der Durchreise 1-2 Tage zum auftanken hält ist es schade wenn die Nachtruhe ab 22 Uhr nicht eingehalten wird.

Disliked Constant noise, you can hear people walking on the gravel constantly, sounds daft but it's really loud.
There always seems to be a vehicle moving, again on the ridiculously loud gravel
